The MLS boards seem to have a bunch of fresh faces lately -- newbies, and people with less than 100 posts.

Is there some successful ad campaign underway that's attracting new folks, or could it we're seeing a deluge of sockpuppets?

BTW, some of the older hands should try to be a little friendlier to some of these new guys.

One person who just joined BigSoccer started an albeit rather silly/stupid thread listing the top 50 cities by population and asked "Which one do YOU think deserves expansion? " and was greeted with: "that chart is beyond meaningless" and "Please don't post this meaningless garbage without providing some analysis or at least implying that you can do more than post data."

Maybe the moderators can PM/email guys who jump on the case of new BS members and remind them to try to be patient/friendly with folks who've just joined up.

I agree, boards should not become so cliquish that they exclude people from posting, which ends up with tons of lurkers and the same guys posting. i think this is an initative mods and posters should take up with their fellow posters...although i will say that big soccer is alot better about carding repeat offenders than they once were.

another thing id like to see less of is posters getting slammed soley on affiliation...as long as they arent intentionally trolling, some people like to comment on things that effect the league. and by this i also mean other leagues not just other teams...although this has also been cracked down on i am happy to say. i may even be able to post on the metros board again soon :)
