Greg Kerfoot, local Vancouver software nerd, part of Crystal Decision (http://www.crystaldecisions.com). Here's an mp3 clip from TEAM 1040 (sorry for the lousy quality.... turn your volume way up): individual.utoronto.ca/devon/owner.mp3
Congratulations Good to see Vancouver live to see another day. Hopefully the new owner works out better than the last.
Congratulations.. It was a downer this off-season hearing that Vancouver was suffering so and might not be coming back for another year.. Is the PDL team in Vancouver linked to the new management??
Abbotsford PDL club I'm sure they'll function as a feeder club, regardless of whoever owns/manages the Whitecaps. Cheers everyone.
Abbortsford, maybe? Anyways, great to see the Whitecaps'll be back. I look forward to cheering against them when they come down to Seattle next season!
I think you mean the Breakers which is a Woman's team. Congrats to the fans in Vancouver though...this is good news indeed.
Great news for everyone involved. I'm glad to see that a long-standing franchise will continue. I hope the great fans of the area come out & support the club with renewed zeal!
Rock and roll, V-town! I read somewhere around here (or was it there) that Abbotsford is back in the PDL.
Yes Abbotsford is back in the PDL. But Abbotsford is Abbotsford not Vancouver no matter what anybody would try to tell ya!
I have not listened to the MP3 but is this an official announcement? I've not seen anything in the press yet, which seems odd.
This is NOT an official announcement. In fact in todays Vancouver Province newspaper, it states only that he is a frontrunner to take over the Whitecaps and Breakers. Nobody involved had returned phonecalls from the newspapers.
still no word? I've not seen anything saying "yes, the Whitecaps have a new owner yet" and frankly that bothers me.
Considering theres nothing official on the Whitecaps having a new owner, therefore at the moment the Whitecaps don't have any staff, or management, they can't possibly be associated with any other club. So I'd say at this point in time-no.
BUT according to Allison A, Marcos said today on the soccer radio show that there are 19 teams in the league this year, including Syracuse. That 'leads' us to believe they are planning on having Vancouver aboard next year.
Heres an article taken from the BC Soccerweb. Note that it mentions only that there is a leading candidate to buy the team, and only rumours at that: "Whitecaps to return? by Martin Rose, Editor, The BC Soccer Web. According to USL President Francisco Marcos the Vancouver Whitecaps WILL be playing in the A-League next season. On the internet radio program Soccerfanaticsradio.com Marcos stated that all 18 clubs that competed in 2002 would be returning for the 2003 season. No specific details were given regarding the sale of the Whitecaps franchise. Rumours persist that Crystal Decisions President and CEO Greg Kerfoot is the leading candidate to obtain the franchise but there has been no indication from Kerfoot or Whitecaps GM Bob Lenarduzzi of any agreement being reached."
Hmmmm Will Randee Hermus be there, French braids and all? Might be worth a trip down to the Lower Mainland.
Well it's final. The Caps have a new owner. Details are available on the Whitecaps home page and www.a-league.com Sadly that means I have to rewrite an article I was working on. Here's your chance to read it before I hit delete. http://www.soccerwriter.com/USL/Forms/AllItems.htm Look for an article titled "Welcoming"
