The webcast is on now (5pm Eastern) http://www.team1040.ca/ chat: http://host10.123flashchat.com/matchnight/
How many PKs do you want in a game? If the first one was an absolute gift, then don't expect another one unless it's pretty damn obvious.
If the penalty would have been called in the first minute for the infraction it should be called in the last minute. Show me where theres a rule about calling two penalty kicks against a team in one game. Oh right, there isn't. One of those fouls WAS pretty damn obvious thats why the assistant ref called the referee over and pointed it out, and they had a long chat that seemed to take forever. The referee knew it was wrong to ignore what was clearly a PK on that foul that is why he allowed so much injury time when the Whitecaps looked like they were going to equalize. He went way overboard in the time added on to make up for it.
No worries, he'll be crying about Charleston come Sunday evening. Glad to see you guys are comming back into form...will be even sweeter for us to take the cup back from a full strength monkey squad.
Still stinging over my pointing out that cancelling the webcast of Friday nights game was bush league huh?
By the way when is Atlanta going to release the attendance numbers from yesterdays match, or was it so embarrasing they aren't going to send the number to the league?
Quit whining. The attendance was larger for the men's game, I don't know why they haven't released the number. Attendance was over 2,300 for the women's game. I understand since you didn't see the PK, but the ball hit Hayes in the shoulder in an unintentional manner with no Whitecaps around. None of the Vancouver players said anything and everyone was about to keep playing until the ref blew his whistle. The ref was even unsure about the call that he went to consult the linesman but was too cowardly to overturn it. I have no idea what the announcer was referring to as an "obvious PK" in stoppage time. I saw nothing to merit a PK. Besides, when you get 9 minutes of stoppage time, 4 in the first half, an ungodly 5 in the second half, you need to quit whining. You had the whole of the play towards the end of both halves, and if you can't score with gifts of that much time, then maybe you don't deserve to win. Or instead of whining about the refs, why not ask Fuller why he felt the need to mouth off and get a second yellow card? Maybe if you had one more player on there at the end then you could have tied it up. Whatever, eat it: First half, Vancouver 0-1 Charleston.
Well if the club is as bush league as the Atlanta fans responses seem to be in responding to this thread, that might explain the lack of releasing the attendance numbers for the game.
Bush league? What's bush league? Pointing out reasons why your arguments are invalid? Sorry, I was there, I saw the game.
Goals Half1 Half2 OT1 OT2 Final Vancouver Whitecaps 2 0 2 Atlanta Silverbacks 3 0 3 Shots Vancouver Whitecaps 4 0 4 Atlanta Silverbacks 8 2 10 Saves Vancouver Whitecaps 1 0 1 Atlanta Silverbacks 1 0 1 Fouls Vancouver Whitecaps 3 7 10 Atlanta Silverbacks 3 13 16 Offsides Vancouver Whitecaps 0 0 0 Atlanta Silverbacks 1 2 3 Corners Vancouver Whitecaps 1 3 4 Atlanta Silverbacks 4 0 4 I was at the game yesterday. The first penalty against Atlanta was a terrible call. No way a penalty should have been given. Later in the match a Vancouver player handled a ball in the penalty area that ended a goal scoring opportunity and should have been a PK, especially after the one given against theSilverback. The PK was not given. A penalty could have been given near the end for Vancouver, however at that point Vancouver was just slinging every balll they could from long range into the penalty area and there was the usual pushing, shoving and grabbing that occurs in those situations. There were so many fouls being committed by both teams in that calls could have gone either way. No decent referee is goin to awatd a PK in injury time unless they are 100% sure. The way I counted Vancouver came out ahead in regards to PKs They were given the phantom PK and one was ignored for both teams. Atlanta scored three quality goals. Vancouver scored two soft goals. Atlanta outshot Vancouver 10-4. The referees did not do Atlanta any favors 16 fouls whistled against Atlanta. 10 fouls whistled against Vancouver. The Atlanta players would rather be on the road when it comes to some of the officiating they have seen at home. Look at the stats and you tell me who is whining.
Are your French ? I sware I've never seen someone complain so much....try getting off the boards for a bit and see the sights around you. Or if you want such an efficent league...get off your arse and do something about it, instead of complaining to the rest of us...what makes you think we care about your opinion anyway ? You're a muppet.
Yeah, funny that. Nobody wants me over on USL Discussions because I'm a very nasty man, now I'm not posting over there they have to post a link to this board "look what Krammerhead is saying!" Are that many people really fixated on what I'm saying?
I complain much? Seems to me I questioned a couple of non penalty calls in injury time in a thread I started about the game, later I pointed out that more than one PK is allowed in a game and lastly I asked when Atlanta is going to release the official numbers from the game against Vancouver (something they still haven't done). It's you, your cousin Billy Bob and Jethro that seem to be bitching in this thread. You are the ones that need to get off the boards a bit instead of calling over the possee from the USL (soccer moms) discussion to join what you seem to think is a fight. As far as I can see I've done nothing in this thread (other than discuss the game) that requires you pathetic boys to call out the cavalry. Still I suppose you guys need to. While I'm not French, I'd rather be that than be you. You are truly pathetic.
Your not too swift canuck boy...read the obvious stats next to my name and you'll see that I've been posting on here since 2001...obviously I don't hide out on USL and jump on here for attacks on you. You have a pretty big ego to think people read away on these boards soley to attack you. I read these boards very frequently and when needed I'll call B.S. on people that talk rubbish....something you make glaringly obvious. And why would the other guys be teaming up with me....two of them are from my clubs biggest rival...do your homework before you step up with the big boys. Or go worry about the Whitecaps being placed into BC place.
why hasen't the attendance figure for the the caps-silverbacks game been made public.must be really low i figure.atlanta traditionally has been a poor sports town, the hawks, thrashers, silverbacks are all an embaressment to sports.
Pathetic. Shows how much you know about Atlanta sports. 1. The Hawks may look pathetic now but they finally have some decent management in place. Babcock ran that team into the ground and now they're paying for it. (By the way, who's the bigger embarassment, a team that is trying to make changes or one that moves to Memphis?) 2. Poor sports town my ass. 13 division titles in a row. Michael Vick. Georgia Tech runnerup in the 2004 NCAA Tournament. 3. The Thrashers are a great franchise. I regularly attended at least 10-20 home games every season. It's a shame because of the lockout, Hartley's the man. Regular attendance hovers around 12-14,000 for them. No excuses there. 4. I'll say it once again: There were at least 2,500 for the Silverbacks game last Saturday, if not 3,000. The women reported 2,300-plus and a lot of people left between games.

(By the way, who's the bigger embarassment, a team that is trying to make changes or one that moves to Memphis?) FYI not once during the grizzlies pathetic 6 year tenure in the NBA did their yearly attendance fall below that of the atlanta hawks. it will be announced soon that the carolina hurricane, florida panthers, and atlanta thrashers have all made bids to relocate to winnipeg.nashville and pittsburgh pulled out. all i wanted was the caps-silverbacks attendance stat
Sure. In a time when Canadian teams are having financial problems due to the difference between the loon and the US$, we're going to put another team in Canada? Oh yeah, I'm sure the Thrashers are going to move to Winnipeg, especially with a new ownership group in place, a nearly brand new facility (one of the best in the league), great young players and a great coach.
