OK, folks. No talk about candy, soda or yuppie dishes like sushi and seafood fettucine. Let's get down to the real stuff. Name your favorite whiskeys, be it Scotch, Irish, Canadian, bourbon; single malts, double barrels, blends.

    Begin.

I'm partial to Speyside, myself, though Highland Park from the Orkney Islands is one of my favorites.

Small batch bourbon from Labrot & Graham distillery in Versailles, KY.

Neat or on ice, simply divine.

I won't drink Whiskey anymore as I've had a problem with it. It's probably been about 10 years since the time I used to drink it.

I don't like JD (it's ok) but AFAIC, all whiskey should be drunk neat.

The only time I add ice to whiskey is if I'm having a rusty nail or a Manhattan.

Whiskey should be drunk in whatever way allows the drinker to enjoy it best.

I have a bottle of Booker's bourbon which is a bit too strong for my palette neat, but on the rocks with a splash of water works fine.

I'm a big Crown fan aswell but I've heard good things about Bookers. How much does it cost a bottle, $50?

I was down in Louisville recently and we had did a whiskey bar crawl. Different shot in every bar on Bardstown Road. Very messy :)

Having said that I've spent alot of time Scotland and enjoy a good single malt. Glenfiddich is a good medium price offering but there's really no limit to how much you can spend on the stuff.

    Bourbon
Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 20 year- Not as expensive (though the price skyrocketed in the last several years) as the 23 yr and just as good. It is a bit sweet for some of my friend's palettes.

Old Weller 107 Antique- You can get this for about $17 a fifth here and this is my everyday sipping/manhattan bourbon. So good, and a great, great value. Better than most of your $35 bottles. This stuff is a little on the dry side for a bourbon.

    Single Malt Scotch
Oban- Probably not as robust as most people like, but this is my favorite.

    Irish
Tyrconnel- Also not so robust, but I love love love it. About $20 a bottle- should be cheaper elsewhere.

You're all not serious about the 'I never use ice thing' right? I'd like to see any of you come to a tasting here and tell one of the distillers how to drink their bourbon- because you're going to see quite a large number of bourbon professionals drinking bourbon with ice.

Personally, I, um, go both ways- I have found that with some whiskeys, some flavors are actually opened up with a few pieces of ice.

Oh yeah, if anybody has thought about coming out this way for a bourbon tour, I can tell you which bars to go to in the city for literally the largest bourbon selection in the world.

So you did the Bambi Walk? And Booker's is about $28-35 here, but there isn't much tax on it here, so that's a little low.

    I don't know. It was a gift.

Had Crown Royal (on an airplane) once and I liked it.

Lol. Is that what you call it?

It was alot of fun. Good bands playing, lively atmosphere, friendly people and hot women - or at least they all looked hot after several bourbons.
