I hope you see the irony in not supporting your national team because of their lack of mainstream support.

When they aren't playing the US I'd like to see England do well, I've been following them since I started paying attention to the game on the national stage. And considering how often I watch the premier league it's probably only natural to care about how the national team plays. Although I still watch them, I've cared less and less about their actual results each year that passes... they used to kind of feel like a "second team" despite the fact that I hate the idea of having a second team... but not anymore.

Beyond that I just want to see good soccer -- I'd like for an African team to do well, and admire some of the players on Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Ghana in particular. The list of who I'm rooting against is likely much longer than the list of who I'm rooting for.

I will definitely cheer for our brothers from Greece, it's my favorite team on WC after my Serbia.

My teams are New Zealand and Italy which represents my family roots.

but I'm going to support NZ when they play Italy.

I will then support the Aussies (I'm married to one)

and finally but not least, the USA which I think are underrated.

    # 1 USA (Born and Bred)
    # 2 Australia (GF is Aussie)
    # 3 Spain (Ancestral roots)
    # 4 Chile (Have always liked the way they play)

    Everyone else can suck it!

But more than likely I will watch as many games as I can and end up rooting for one side or the other.:D

Serbia is my second favourite also. I honestly believe Serbia has a great team this time around plus the experience of the previous world cup. All the mistakes that were made four years ago should be used as a learning experience and I'm sure they have been.

A little bit of luck and who knows...

I will be donning my flame suit now but, Mexico. I've always liked 'em. Sue me. PLUS, the 3/4 length sleeved kits they had were ace. I've said that before but dang they were sexy. I wish they were wearing them for the WC.

I always like to cheer for the non-USA/Mexico CONCACAF teams, and I remember Honduras from when they played Peru in Lima in 2000. They have come a long way since then, and I'm happy they are in the world cup.

After the US, I'll be rooting for Serbia, Uruguay, and South Korea to pull a few upsets. Love the Dutch, and I'll be pulling for England to make it to the semis.

England - I think they may give it a nudge this time. There's no point denying they've been a very underwhelming performer in recent times but they seem to have gotten their shit together. And they deserve it.

USA - Not as bad as is often and boringly reported on here, ad nauseam. I also like Jozy Altidore. Always gives a lot of time to SBS (an Australian football broadcast) and comes across as a serious professional and knowledgeable guy. Along with the fact the missus is American and I have to. ;)

    For

    1- USA. My team.
2- Japan. My wife is Japanese, so I don`t have much choice here.
3- Honduras. Dad lives there. Was there when they beat Mexico in San Pedro Sula. Wow, what a party that was.
4- When the above 3 lose out, pulling for Spain. Just love their style of play.

    Against

1- Mexico. I will omit further inappropriate comments.
    2- France. Cheaters.
3- S`Korea. Again, my hands are tied (wife).
    4- Mexico. Mmmmm... tacos.

As an Aussie, these are the teams I will be supporting strongly outside my own

New Zealand: Neighbours and my fiance is from there. I am also currently living in NZ and am liking how the country over the last 6 months as really started to embrace the game with the success of the Phoenix. Plus a lot of A-League players are there, including my A-League teams main player, Shane Smeltz

Japan: Regional neighbours and a country I really would love to spend time in. I follow the J-League quite strongly and also hope for the region's sake they do well (on a lesser note South Korea as well).

Netherlands: Only country I have lineage from that has qualified (Russia, Scotland & Czech Republic all failed).

Uruguay: The rivalry we developed over 2002 & 2006 World Cups sparked my interest in the team and the few Uruguayans I have met and spoken to about it were very friendly about it (unlike how our media portrayed Uruguayans as arrogant and rude back in 2002 & 2006). I hope they do well and hope we can play against each other again soon.

Ultimately in the end I don't wish any team bad, even teams I support are grouped against. Sure I find some teams like England can be boring and drab to watch and I could hate Italy for the 2006 "diving" incident, but in the end, I don't see the point in hating and wishing ill towards any team. I'd rather just sit back and enjoy the tournament.

Well, Peru didn't qualify again, so I've been supporting Spain since '02. This is our year. After Spain I have to go for England, then the Netherlands and finally France.
