Might be your second team, or if you don't have a team at the World Cup.

Personally, for me it's New Zealand. As close neighbours and former fellow OFC members, we have a fairly close affinity with them - particularly as they are also a country where football is one of the lesser, struggling codes.

I also have great respect for a number of their players who have both played in Australia's domestic league and against us in OFC qualifying, who I'd like to see have some success before they retire.

No one. I'll just be sitting back and enjoying it. Of course, I would like to have a more meaningful involvement in it, but that hasn't happened since 1998, and it doesn't look like happening anytime soon.

Still, it doesn't mean I wont be enjoying it. I'll be looking forward to each and every game. I'll also be doing a bit of betting on it so I will have a vested interest in individual matches.

And I'll probably pick out a couple of dark horses to win the tournament and have a bet on them as well, which will again mean I will be watching them closely. Couldn't say who at the minute though. Far too early to tell.

Outside blood (Portugal) and birth (South Africa,) all the African sides. Also have a soft spot for Mexico and The Netherlands. Obviously can't support the Aussies and the Kiwis :D.

I'm an American, and would love to see us do well, but Argentina fascinates me as a country, and they obviously have a good team. I follow a blog of an American expat to Argentina, and it's a neat read, even though it's mostly about his meat-smoking adventures). Tierra del Fuego looks like a beautiful area.

Also, an old, old family friend expatriated from here to New Zealand, so I always enjoy seeing their team, though their domestic system is frustratingly underdeveloped compared to that country Australia that they often get lumped with.

    The WC should be fun!

I'm Czech living in USA whose favorite club team is French.

So I'm pulling for Slovakia (even though those zkurvysynove knocked us out), and wishing the USA and France well.

When Im not supporting S. Korea, Ill be secretly rooting for Mexico. Got much love for that country even though theyre not the most educated bunch. Great food and great times.

Ill also be rooting for the Davids vs the Goliaths...NK being the prime example. I shit on their government no doubt though.

    USA is #1
I've got 75% Hungarian blood...not applicable in the world cup since the 80's but they'd be #2
    25% German they are #3
and most of my buds who are European are English so they are #4
however the Germans and the English do not jive with US...as they play the English and if it goes as predicted they'll play the Germans in the round of 16....maybe the Dutch this year they are fun to watch

Spreading the love around a bit...

Honduras: If you watched them in qualifying, you have to respect how much they wanted it. They play positive football and on their good days are a force to be reckoned with.

Nigeria: I just travelled to Nigeria for my brother's wedding. To be completely honest, the people of that country deserve things to go their way... even if it's just for a moment on the pitch in South Africa.

Australia: The fiance has been there 6 times and we have some good friends from there. Such a great sporting culture and friendly people. Another good WC result would help to continue the develop the sport there in a good way.

I used to live in Germany so I will be primarily following them. I will also be hoping my club players do well just not when they face Germany.

Being from Mexico and starting 3 generations back some stepped down from the boat from Spain then...

Spain: Of all the European teams I would support this one.

Brazil: Joga Bonito, how can one not support that style and spectacle.

USA/HON: Altho rivals, I would like for them to do well, for the regions sake.

Argentina: I'm just going to say it, don't like a lot of them, but I like Messi, he is a freak and has some very un-argentinian traits about him, starting with simplicity and humbleness, so for him alone I would not mind them doing well.

    Who I'll root against:

Portugal, CR is the antithesis of Messi when it comes to personality
South Africa, wait wait wait, only because we are in the same group, I generally root for underdogs and hosts.
France, I dated an Irish girl nuff said.
South Korea, still a little ticked about that ref fiasco vs Spain in '02

In general I would like a team from the Americas to win over Europe, except perhaps Spain.

    peace

I'm a USA supporter but my "second team" is also New Zealand, partly because of the underdog thing, but mostly because of the connection to DC United via Ryan Nelsen.

I tend to wait and start rooting for a team playing entertaining soccer in that particular WC. Generally, I like Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Holland, Italy and South Korea. However, I will cheer for Mexico and Hondorus to do well in support of our region.

Ivory Coast. It'd be good to see a poor nation win it, and an African nation, of whom never won it before, as opposed to the traditional superpowers in football.

But if I can pick a big one too, I think its time Spain deserves to win it.

New Zealand because for the first time ever my club has a player at the World Cup, Rory Fallon. I'm far too excited about seeing him play at the biggest competition there is. I always have a soft spot for the Netherlands as well, I'd like to see them win a World Cup almost as much as I'd like England to win one.

Classic C-moc. Didnt know he was trying to pull that stuff with the Fire too.

His nickname should be La Rana.

Looks like one, plays like one. Especially that back-ball deflection junk. Awesome.

history doesn't owe them anything. they owe a WC to themselves. I would mind the Dutch doing well either, but will support the African teams first.

yup he also gets called that.

He got pissed ones at the Mexican commentators for calling him the hunchback of nortredam lol

he's told them to stop making fun of his defects :D

Instead of saying he puts the team on his back, Mexicans usually say he puts the team on his hunchback.

Just Brilliant. Probably one of my favorite players.

Is there a chance he'll be called up for S.A.?
