Columbus clinched a playoff spot this week, so there are now five teams fighting for the remaining ones. Which two won't make it? DC's going to make it DC's going to make it. Even with their top three scorers sidelined, and two mainstays serving yellow card point accumulation, the screaming eagles dominated the Metrostarts in two straight games.
If KC loses at Colorado on Friday I believe that NE and NY/NJ will conspire to tie on Saturday, since they both would have playoff spots guaranteed in that case. They would certainly finish ahead of DC and KC. I also think that Chicago has run out of gas and will lose at home to a resurgent Columbus team. DC will win at home to Dallas. That leaves Chicago out and DC and KC tied with 35 points, which KC wins in the tiebreaker. Therefore DC and Chi will be out.
Man, would that stir up controversy! But I doubt it would happen since a NE win vs the MetroStars would keep them in the running for a #2 seed.
