    Spain they allways are.

England are usually not a bust. They make sure that they torture me with hope.:(

I say Italy. They are always under tremendous pressure, and with the scandal growing, they will choke like the Detroit Pistons.:D

2006 Czechs are going to be this Cup's 2002 Portugal, I think.

Just shows some of the U.S.-hating that goes on here.
The U.S. is third favorite in its group, from 80-1 to 101-1 to win it depending on which site you check, and it's going to be "the biggest bust." What a crock.

IMO, the only true busts of the last cup were France, Argentina and to a lesser extent Portugal. First round exits by teams expected to have a good chance at winning the deal.
So, if that's the criteria, the only teams on that list capable of being big busts (hehehehehe) are Brazil and Holland. I marked Germany because they're hosts, but really no one hear expects much from them (they're thinking the group is so weak they won't be able to avoid the second round, and then they're out, which I tend to agree with, so that's not really a bust, is it). Everyone else has serious questions that would explain a melt down (though england losing out in group would be a bust, I don't see that happening).
I don't see anyone making the QFs qualifying as a bust, though perhaps that's different in Brazil right now, and for a lot of those sides, making it out of group is pretty nice.
I don't think we're going to have the same sort of busts this Cup. Though a wild card to deal with, just like the heat of Sk/J is that the weather here is brutal, freezing rain most days (including right now). That might be rough on the warm weather nations.
If I was gonna vote again, I'd go with Brazil.

Why exactly is the USA on this poll???!!!! Are we now considered a world powerhouse in football. The reality is, considering our group.... anything other than first round elimination would be a surprise. The Czech Rep not getting out of that group would be a bigger bust than the US....

Mind you, the biggest bust will probably be....

Witht the exception of the bold highlights, that's pretty much what I've got too. However, I can see Costa Rica maybe pipping Poland in group A. While the Saudi's are not as bad as their 2002 showing suggests ... I just don't think they're good enough for round 2. Tunisia or Ukraine should take it ahead of them. I hope your right about the USA. ;)

I think it will be the host, Germany. Their defense has been shown as suspect twice already, by Italy and Japan. Plus, their is immense pressure on them to perform well, since they are a perennial power and because they are at home. I don't see them getting past the Round of 16, the Quarterfinals as best.

True, but nobody here expects more than a round of 16 performance from them, so if they go out then, are they a bust? I'd think they'd have to crash out in group. and if they make the quarters, they've exceeded expectations. People simply do not believe in this team.

Really? I have the Germans down to reach the quarterfinals - provided they avoind England in the second round. Not because I think the team is talented or anything, it's just the way the draw went for them. I can't see Poland, Ecuador, or Costa Rica pipping them to top spot in their group. Should they win their group (as expected), then it will most likely be Sweden or Paraguay in the second round. Sweden are a good team and Paraguay are tight too but you'd have to say that at home, against the five teams mentioned above - Germany would have to be considered favorites. They could come across Argentina - or one of the group C / D teams. Anything less than the quarterfinals I think would be considered a bust for Germany - anything more - it would be quite a success.

I think so too, as the likelihood of an Italy - Brazil R16 is looming...can't wait for it...
