In New Zealand, it was either Cricket or Rugby. I have to choose "other" for Rugby. However they are very even for me. Hang loose guys.
I guessed that you would be talking about watching, not doing. But that might make an interesting poll as well. For instance, my favorite sport to play by far is Ultimate Frisbee. But viewing is now soccer and the NFL - although the NFL doesn't get me interested as a nuetral the way soccer does.
Given the number of Aussies that use this site I think you definitely should have included Australian football as well. I have voted for it as my "other" and its interesting that even this early, the "other" category is in the lead.
Baseball. I'm from New York City where Baseball is Huge, especially when it comes to the rivalry between the Yankees and the Mets. LET'S GO METS!!!
In NZ there are 4 major sports--Union, League, Sevens, and Touch. It might be a bit different up in Auckland, but essentially rugby code dominates all--basketball is probably as popular here in ChCh as cricket.
Although football is my second, I probably spend more time watching PBR (Professional Bull Riding, for those who don't know) on OLN. My wife's a big fan, so when soccer's not on, and the Skins aren't playing (or my Utes), there are often bulls and cowboys on the screen. Actually went to the 'second division' PBR event at the MCI Center last year...it was a hoot. Interesting. That makes me an 'in-the-stands' fan of soccer and PBR. The only two sports I see in person. Go figure.
Whether you believe it or not, there is in fact a Rivalry...or does the Subway Series mean nothing. BTW if you didn't know, METS are the best team in NY this Year.
With no Rugby or Volleyball (both would be top 5 teams sports in the world easily) this poll is obviously meant for the US. For me it would be Rugby (union) followed by Athletics or Cricket
My other passion aside Football is Tennis. Been playing it practically since I was baby. So it's been now like 17 years now. After football and tennis, there is nothing. maybe snowboarding. basketball now bores me. baseball sucks and should be banned. and any other sports is just not that interesting to me as football and tennis.
College football on the radio is one of my favorite things. Especially while working in the garage or yard on a crisp Fall afternoon. Second love for sure.
My second sport is professional boxing. Love the drama, hate the political BS. #3 is baseball. My Minnesota Twins are in the race! Other stuff is just there.
I voted for American football, but I think you should have included rugby (union only because league is too much like NFL without forward passes, so it isn't really rugby) and the fastest growing sport in the US, lacrosse. Also, Australian Rules for the Aussies. -Von
Tennis. And sometimes (Tour, Giro, Vuelta) cycling. In the old days, basketball (for M.Jordan and the Bulls)
1. College football 2. NFL 3. International soccer 4. College hockey 5. NHL 6. Club soccer 7. College basketball 8. Baseball So I guess hockey is my favorite sport "after soccer"
Ditto that. I'd also throw in high school football on a cold Friday night--which I didn't care about at the time, but now takes me back to my youth as viscerally as any other experience.
