This is from the BBC web site-they're looking at the Premiership but kind of fun to think about who you would plug into your current side from the past. Some samples from the EPL:

For MetroStars, I think it's pretty open/shut-at least for me.

Dave MacKay, Pat Jennings or Jimmy Greaves. We could do with so many.

My heart says Psycho but my head says Stanley Victor.

If this applied to managers as well, it'd be a simple decision.

I wish we still had Zidane and Vieri. That Juventus team was my favorite ever.

I'm a Liddell too young to remember Billy, so it has to be King Kenny.

A man who leaves the club after an argument, moves to feyenoord for a year and instantly becomes champion there... I'll take him over anyone.

    Cruyffie heb altijd gelijk.

Well, I suppose Di Stefano could find a game even today :)

But I would look first to the back and plug in Manolo Sanchis. My second choice would be to place Juanito in and Figo out on the right flank-but I admit this might be a case of heart over mind.

The left side is interesting, 'cause Camacho might be a good choice in the back (as well as Gento on the left wing) but then what do you do with Roberto Carlos? Kind of shows how unique a player he is and how the game has changed.

TONY ADAMS for the AFC!!! And our one and only (four and only???) Back Four from our Double year. They were all four Gods in their own right. Take ten years off of David Seaman's age and we have a superb keeper (moreso than he already is). Oh, and Ian Wright wouldn't hurt either.

    Vive le AFC!

Of all the players in Arsenal's past, you would have one back who retired 9 months ago?

No offence to Tony, but blimey ...

If I were a Gooner, I'd say Frank McLintock or Charlie George.

I'd like to see Pirri back there... a tireless midfielder who could make goals. Quite the backup for a team with so many stars.

I would side with Gento for Real Madrid, actually, because Cambiasso just isn't getting the job done on the left and someone seems to be absolutely intent on forcing Solari out. In a matter of months left wing has gone from the team's deepest position to its weakest.
