Metros: Mathis, Moreno Wizards: Fabbro, Simutenkov, Wolff Revs: Twellman, Max-Moore Crew: Buddle, Cunningham, McBride Fire: Razov, Faria Rapids: ZiZi, Spencer, Carrieri Burn: Rhine, Kreis, Cerritos, E. Johnson Galaxy: Ruiz, Albright, Glinton, Victorine United: Kovalenko, Stoitchkov, Convey, Quaranta, Olsen, Barclay Earthquakes: Donovan, DeRosario, Ching Ok, we do have arguably the best #1 guy in MLS but after that it drops off tremendously.....and when you have a situation like that, Donovan will get swarmed on relentlesly.......every week we will be facing "don't let Donovan beat us" type defenses. When I look at these teams it makes me think how much we need Dante Washington.....oh yeah, you knew I was going there. I'd even take Agogo back right about now.
LDB, Washington is not even the fourth choice for the Crew....why do you want such a cast-off? oh wait, don't answer that, I can just go back and reread one of your 300 posts aout Dante.... maybe you are Dante? and want to move to SJ? while I will agree that the picture is not pretty, there are few people on that list that rival Donovan's presence and need for double/triple teaming him on the ball.... I will not prescribe to the "sky is falling 2003" version just yet....
Metros: Mathis (coming off injury, had rough end of 2002) Moreno (new team, looked like he lost a step w/DCU) Wizards: Fabbro, Simutenkov (can they win games?), Wolff (coming off injury) Revs: Twellman (MLS will adjust to him, won't have a year like he did last year), Max-Moore (old) Crew: Buddle, Cunningham, McBride (all three are dangerous) Fire: Razov (head case) , Faria (see Razov) Rapids: ZiZi, Spencer, Carrieri (with Grimandi gone, send the midfield into chaos. Carrieri is not a gamer, Spencer coming back from injury, do not know enough of Roberts) Burn: Rhine, Kreis (proven), Cerritos (returning from injury), E. Johnson (still very young but lethal) Galaxy: Ruiz, Albright, Glinton, Victorine (Victorine in midfield) (Albright? puh-leaze) El flopadillo is the danger man United: Kovalenko, Stoitchkov, Convey, Quaranta, Olsen, Barclay (who?) can be dangerous...add Quintilliana Earthquakes: Donovan, DeRosario, Ching
I agree with lddoppelganger. You really think Pwamme is off the depth chart in comparison to all of these other strikers?? I can't agree. I've seen a number of them, including Twellman and Johnson and can't say they are a class above Dwayne at all. They're athletic sure.
Most of what youv'e said is valid, by your own assessments i'll say this......DeRocoming off injury and wasn't a force when he was healthy) Ching: A-league scorer, Galaxy cast-off....unproven. Guys listed that i'd take over DeRo: Mathis, Moreno, Fabbro, Simutenkov, Wolff, Twellman, Max-Moore, Buddle, Cunningham, McBride, Razov, Faria, ZiZi, Spencer, Kreis, EJ, Ruiz, Kovalenko, Stoitchkov, Convey, Quintillana, Quaranta, Olsen. Guys I wouldn't: Barclay Questionable: Carrieri, Albright, Cerritos, Rhine Don't get me wrong....DeRo has skills, he just doesn't play well with the other children....i mean players. He's 100% hustle and no soccer smarts. Donovan needs someone who can think creatively and on the same page as him. I'd take all of the above over Ching. Like I've said before, Dante isn't the answer, but he's better than what we have.
Why is Carrieri questionable? He has been consistently scoring goals since he started starting. If it is because he has an attitude problem, then why is Stoitchkov on your better list? That guy is really a head case, and if he score more goals in the run of play than Ekelund this year (ie zero or one), I'll eat my hat.
LMFAO. Sure, Twellman needs to prove last year wasn't a fluke, but since I believe he'll do just that, I think he's way better than DeRo or Johnson at this point. I have nothing against DeRo, and I think Big Eddie shows lots of promise. But DeRo, in a perfect world, should be used as a dangerous sub, not a 75-90 min. guy.
