I have always liked the Chargers uniforms (bring back the yellow pants!!) but that Charger logo they have in the endzones and stuff needs to change. It looks so....I don't know...generic maybe? I can't stand the Miami Dolphins logo/uniforms. It's just so old.
Cleveland becuase of the history/tradition I'll let stand even though it's ugly as s**t. Miami I've always liked. Chiefs should never change, great logo/color scheme. I really can't stand the Seahawks new uniforms. I dunno, other than that I think everyone did a good job of modernizing their logos and such. The Jets logo is looking much better now, same as the upgrading Denver one. Didn't Denver have a pretty crappy one for a few years before the new one? The Eagles look a lot better now too.
I liked the powder blue look they brought back for NFL's 75th Anniversary. Old school and flashy, plus a color scheme that fit the city's persona. They actually redesigned the uniform a few years back, though the overall design has remained the same.
It boils down to this: Best of the NFL: New England Patriots Kansas City Chiefs Houston Texans Worst of the NFL: Seattle Seahawks Tennessee Titans Jacksonville Jaguars Best of the CFL: Edmonton Eskimos Ottawa Renegades Calgary Stampeders Worst of the CFL: Saskatchewan Roughriders Hamilton Tiger-Cats Montreal Alouettes (Alternate) Best of the Rest: Houston Gamblers (USFL) Baltimore Stallions (CFL-USA) Worst of the Rest: Portland Storm (WFL) Southern California Sun (WFL) Birmingham Baracudas (CFL-USA) Really any of those jerseys from the mid-nineties in the WLAF, CFL, and NFL Europe that had the big-ass logo on the front with a small number on the right chest, those were the pits. And I don't like this disturbing trend of wearing team color tops and pants, e.g. Hamilton, Seattle, Buffalo, even New England. What's up with that?
Re: Re: Which NFL teams need to redesign their logo/uniforms? I liked alot of the stuff they did during the 75th anniversary year. I've always wished the Lions stayed with the uniform they wore that year.
It boils down to this: Best of the NFL: New England Patriots I wish that the Pats would take the gray off of their jerseys. I much prefer their road uniforms to their home ones. I wish that the Chargers would go to the powder blue. There are rumors that it may happen next year. The jerseys that I like the best are Kansas City, Green Bay, and NY Jets.
I love the Falcons unis, I love the old school red even more, though. There are rumors that they might switch to red jerseys next year or red helmets. They have notified the NFL that they intend to explore uni changes for 2003. That doesn't necessarily mean that they will. I think Black helmets, red jerseys, and silver pants will look pretty cool.
Re: Re: Re: Which NFL teams need to redesign their logo/uniforms? I agree. I also liked the Rams' yellow jerseys and (gasp) the Cowboys' "Double Star". And it's interesting both Giants and Jets ended up going back to the old school look, and 49ers switched to one that sort of resembles their old uniform. Also, starting the 2nd half of the season, you can expect to see teams wearing alternate/throwback jerseys. Both Thanksgiving games (Lions vs Pats, Redskins vs Cowboys) will probably feature the throwback look.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Which NFL teams need to redesign their logo/uniforms? Damn Turkey Day is gonna be a snoozer on the boob tube then. I hope my local ski hill is open that day. Much rather spend the day snowboarding than sitting through several hours of 'Skins v 'Boys. I'm not a big fan of those unis. Yeah they make fit the city's persona but at the same time, IMNSHO, those colors don't have that aggressive look. The same can be said for the minor league hockey team down there..the SD Gulls of the West Coast Hockey League...their color scheme is an orange/light blue thing. They just don't look right.
I like the classic looks, like Chicago, Kansas City, and the Jets. Boy, I wish the Chargers would go back to powder blue, although I don't mind the current uniforms either.
The powder blue is not intimidating at all. Definately shouldn't go back to those. I think the current ones are pretty good. I still think there needs to be an NFL team with all black like Texas Tech. And the Chiefs look damn good after going back to the old red pants on their away uniform. They used to be all white on the road, very plain looking.
Do we really need the uniform to be intimidating? After all, the list of the most feared defenses of the past include the Purple People Eaters and the Orange Crush. Then again, I almost always prefer the classics to more modern uniforms (though New England looks a whole lot better now without the bent-over Patriot on the helmet). Speaking of all black, AFFA's Miami Sharks look pretty good, imho.
Yeah, but why do I have to be Mr. Pink? Mr. Purple sounds a lot better. As for orange, have ever seen a game at Clemson or Tennessee? On the other hand, wearing a color like a box of baby wipes is the antithesis of intimidating. And considering that I'm wearing a new Patriot jersey right now, I most deifinitely agree that the new logo is better. I mean, we're in New England, the birthplace of the American Revolution, when this country cast off British rule, with the team being founded during the height of the Cold War, and YOU'RE WEARING RED????
Oh yeah, the Miami Sharks. They had a pretty good look, but that logo was shit. A better logo would have been the original Sharks. The Jacksonville Sharks of the World Football League, circa 1974. http://www.classicsportslogos.com/TeamDetail.asp?ProductID=339
I like the Jacksonville Sharks logo. Very Saul Bass-esque. And you're right about the Patriots wearing redcoat. They're New England after all.
But it is much more difficult to redesign an entire franchise. All I know is that they make the Metros look like the New York Yankees
