The choice are the ones that I have seen on this board so far. If you don't see your choice on the list, post it along with your responses.
I think Philly should be considered. However, I don't see it "next" expansion city since it will be extremely hard for Philly to get a soccer specific stadium unless MLS doesn't mind the team playing in the new Eagles stadium.
I think we're also forgetting about the real possiblity of Oklahoma/OKC. That should be added to the list.
There is also the possibility of Rochester. Last I heard DG said if they get a SSS then they are in. Also did Garber say that MLS wanted to expand by 2 teams in 2004?
DoyleG to be representative of the S. Florida market, would of been more accurate having,Miami/Ft. Lauderdale , as the market polled insted of "Miami (yeah Right!)" ?????????????????? ignorance is a malady, and you are proving it every day.
I'm glad you had San Diego as a choice but I don't think we will be getting a team any time soon. Unless the Chargers leave and they have no other choice but to have an MLS team here. That would be interesting..
garber said that Rochester would be admitted to MLS if they could (correct me if im wrong) build a 15k SSS. they are in the prosess of doing so. OKC (according to all the OKC newspaper articles) says that everything that they need is in order and are ready to be part of expansion. do we not have our teams here? of course if someone challenges and gets all the elements to a team, this can all change. otherwise these cities are to host the new teams
The poll should ask , who is the next big city to get F&^%ed by MLS? Detroit (Big soccer area) Philadelphia (deserves it) Phoenix (Hmm!) Rochester? (Wow, that's long shot) South Florida (yeah right!, not again, we want "A "league and then we want the "A" league to finally bury MLS. Tennessee-Chattanooga (The Chattanooga Choo-Choos) West Virginia Honolulu Kodiak, Alaska
Rochester, a long shot? What are you smoking, Coach? Rochester's stadium IS going to be built. They will be MLS's next franchise.
I'm sorry! I grew up in New York! I still picture Rochester as a small hick town just a skip away from Niagara falls. I'm sure it's grown but when I was there the only activity in that town was Kodak. I remember going to their baseball stadium. BTW, I always smoke good stuff!
Do not be surprised to see Cleveland, OH mentioned in discussions about future MLS cities... there is an investment group that is very, very serious about bringing an MLS team to the Cleveland area... complete with a stadium and everything... i don't know if it will make the next round of expansion for MLS, but Cleveland is a lot closer on the radar than a lot of people think...
Can you give us more info? Are there any web sites about this investment group? Do drawings of this stadium exist?
are there websites for any of the stadium projects/expansion cities? i'm just curious and would like to look into these.
No drawings of a stadium project exist that i know of... the group includes Paul Garofolo who is currently the President and GM of the Cleveland Force of the MISL... it also apparently includes the Wolsteins which are former owners of the Force of the old MISL... Garofolo has been seen hobnobbing with Garber and Anschutz at MLS Cup and is said to be very interested in putting this together... the details of a stadium plan in a suburb of Cleveland are very sketchy and very speculative at the moment...
First of all, its going to be two team expansion and not one according to DG. This happens in 2004. So I predict with others Rochester and OK city. Case closed.
fools fools.. oklahoma ? are you people serious.. seattle is belivable and philadelphia is without a question.. the MLS has wanted in from day 1 but never had anywhere to play.. new stadium.. is set to host Man U in a preseason match this march,, this just happens to be the very first event to be hosted a the brand new stadium.. 4th largest market.. local mls stars new stadium built with soccer in mind.. it adds up,,,
While it's most likely that Seattle and Rochester will be next, any of the others have an equal chance. It's simply a matter of which cities get on the ball with a stadium and a commited owner (and commited money). Those are the biggest factors beyond any others as they are all markets capable of succeeding if there is real commitment. Your's Truely, Don G. (jk sorta)
Wouldn't you call Green Bay WI a small market? It's done alright in the NFL.. So can a small market team in MLS. Columbus isn't the biggest market but it's leading MLS in season ticket sales, as one more pertainent example.
Oh.. Sorry.. I took the "thinks small" the wrong way.. PS: I think your Ronnie O'Brien is going to be on great this year.
