You should have left a spot open for "none".

Canadian businessmen and corporations are too cheap to spend any of their money in Canada. Their motto is "make money in Canada, spend it out of the country".

Bring a team to Edmonton and put them into Telus Field.

:DYeah, on its artificial infield! Didn't you tell me that the Eskimos, who own the Trappers, are opposed to removing the turf and installing grass? Possibly to having another team there at all? I keep thinking that there's got to be something that can be done with Clarke Stadium. But from what I've heard, it's to be demolished further (?), and replaced with an artificial field. Except for the tricky stadium situation, Edmonton is obviously the next Canadian city. Maybe the University of Alberta? It has astroturf doesn't it?

The Astroturf infield was installed when Pocklington was running the team. He had hoped to use the stadium as a concert venue on top of baseball (The old stadium, John Ducey, had served a similar purpose). It was not only a poor place for a concert, it was also too small for most acts. The Esks would conisder the fact that removing the turf would help the viability of the stadium. Looking at Rochester might be an example.

Clarke is staying as it is. The talk is that the grass is going to be torn up and astroturf put in. It would be one of the homes for high school football in the city. Most schools don't have their own fields. Fans don't like Clarke that much because the pitch tends to be brutal.

Foote Field is the home of the Golden bears. Tehir are so many markings on the field thatyou can't tell one sport from another. Their is a grass stadium that does sit 1500. The problem is that it is quite distant from the field and their is no lights.

I don't really see it happening any time soon, but if Winnipeg were to get an A-League team I'd probably drive up there once a year for a Thunder match.

Well the Whitecaps are now on the 30 day death watch.

When Canadas most successful team has 30 days to find someone willing to buy them, any talk of new Canadian clubs is silly.

I agree with Krammerhead for once. All efforts should be focused on finding an owner for Vancouver. Even though I hate the Craps I would hate it even more if they weren't around.

And I'd read that there were interested parties. Was that just a lot of smoke?

There are always interested parties. However after they find out how much the average A-League team loses I bet they become a little less interested.

Please elaborate - I don't know what you mean about looking at Rochester.

None, since that there may be a Canadian 1st Division soon and the A-League Teams now may jump to that....

Just guessing here, but I think it had something to do with the way Rochester puts down sod to cover the dirt portion of the infield. His point seems to be that, without the sod, Frontier Field wouldn't work quite as well.

As to the issue at hand, I'm betting that the 2004 A-League season will see a team called Whitehorse United.

There aren't enough teeth in Kootenay to form a soccer team ...

I see BL is now writing stuff straight off the WHL standings.

    Victoria, baby! That's the place.

(Cranbrook, home of the Kootenay Ice. There's 22,000 people there, so would I really have to count teeth?)
