Roma. They're performance has been really weak. I wouldn't be surprised If they lose to RC Genk.

The question says "big" gun though. I don't consider Newcastle and Leverkusen to a "Big" team in Europe right now. But if I voted it would be those two teams. Out of the truly "grandes" I'd say Bayern is in the most danger but they could easily right their ship and move to the next round.

    Newcastle and Leverkusen big guns?

Of the really big ones, IMO Roma will fall the first. And Bayern will make it.

Discounting Newcastle and Leverkusen who are not Big guns and are basically out already anyway, I would say that Inter might be the first Big gun to fall by the wayside.

I think that Roma will squeek out a win against Genk and get through with 4 points. I also think that Liverpool will beat Spartak while Basle loses to Valencia. It will come down to goal differential there so it's a dangerous situation for Liverpool.

Ajax will beat Rosenborg and then there is a great possibility that Lyon will beat Inter dropping them out of the CL

Roma, of course. But saying Leverkusen isn't a big gun at hte moment is soooooooo dumb. Oh yea, they were only CL finalists, league runner-ups, and German Cup runner-ups. But they aren't a big gun. RIGHT.

I wouldn't consider Bayer Leverkusen as big gun either. Last year was their first successful international appearance since winning the UEFA cup in 1988. Additionally their budget is not competitive compared to Bayern, ManU, Real, etc. But Bayer still got chances to advance, they'll win in Haifa and the home games against Haifa and Piraeus - 9 pts will probably be enough (but with less they'd be out).

Newcastle isn't a big gun either.

AS Rome could be out, would be fun in this group. And I'll celebrate seven days and nights if Bayern doesn't make it.

Why do Germans call Olympiakos 'Piraeus'?

I know English people call Munchen Munich, but Piraeus is a completely different name! Is that the town they come from?

Olympiakos is the team name, Piraeus (Piräus German spelling) - don't know the English spelling - is the real name of the city. I think it even is a harbour suburb of Athens. It's just the usual German tendency to call the club with the city name unless there are several clubs from one city.

Yes. Olympiakos are from Piraeus, which is a port town south of Athens, not Athens proper.

Well, in Spain we have the same tendency to a certain degree.

I voted for Newcastle, but they are a big gun only in that they qualified for the competition. There recent results haven't been what I'd consider "BIG GUN".

The true big gun in real trouble is Bayern M.
