My brother is going to move from Dallas to KC after he graduates from high school in May, he is a very good player, good enough to play in the Dallas Cup as a guest player, but not good enough to get any scholarships. Therefore, he is going to try his luck as a walk on. I know SMU has one of the best soccer programs in the country, but for financial reasons he is going to live with my brother in KC. Any help is appreciated! Gracias!

Baker has a good program. One of the top NAIA programs in the country... I know it's not NCAA level, but they're a very good team. Park University is the same way.

Southwest Missouri State has a decent team. Creighton (obviously) has a great program, and not too far away in Omaha. UMKC is a program that is on the rise. St. Louis is always going to be good.

These are the four closest D-1 schools that have soccer that I can think of. UMR (Rolla) has a D-2 team that my brother is thinking about going to. Other then those four schools, I don't know of any that are close to KC.

    In no particular order.

    UMKC - NCAA Div 1
Rockhurst University, Kansas City - NCAA Div 2
Park University in Parkville, Missouri - NAIA
Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas - NAIA
William Jewell, Liberty, Missouri - NAIA

He should contact them all. He will probably have a better chance to walk on at the NAIA schools.

When is he moving up? He should also check in with the Kansas City Brass. They are a PDL team for U23 players. Their web site is: http://www.kc-brass.com/

Tryouts for the Brass should be coming up soon -- probably in April. It would be good experience for him if he can make that squad and could get him some attention from the area colleges. And the Brass will playing their games at William Jewell's stadium this spring.

What position does he play? Etc.? Hoping we can help.

May, right after he graduates from high school.

He's a forward but can also play attacking mid. He's 5'10 and has lightning speed, he’s on his schools track and field team. UMKC looks encouraging, but I’m not sure he’s ready for NCAA Div 1 School yet. I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have a problem walking on to a NAIA school and starting right away and hopefully transferring to a Div 1 school in a year or two. We will start inquiring immediately, THANKS for all your help.

If he's not ready for a d1 yet and wants to go somewhere he could think about juco for a year or two and then transfer to a d1. I played at Cloud County with a guy who now starts for UNC so it's not a bad way to go.

My Best Friend and a kid that I used to go toe to toe w/ in club and high school ball both play at Rolla. Really good Engineering school, program's pretty good. You need to be really smart to make it on this team, and at this school. I think their team GPA is somewhere in the 3.2-3.4 range. Also, as it's an engineering school there are virtually no hot chicks.

PM me if you want more info my best bud can hook your bro up w/ info.

If he does want to go the juco route, Johnson County Community College has a very good program I have heard. And many of their players move up to the NCAA or NAIA schools in the area.
