In reading the match reports, I have noticed that Grimandi hasn't been playing at all in Mexico. I did not see any report of an injury in the Santos game, but then I didn't see that Carrieri suffered an injured shoulder in that game. This showed up in the latest report.

Anybody know if Grimandi is banged up?

He has an entry dated last Monday on his icons.com site. It doesn't make any mention of an injury or not playing.

He does make some goods points (pro and con) about the quality of the league and raises his concerns about being a Frenchman in the US at the current time. I think the fans should go out of their (our) way to make him feel welcome on the 12th.

Now if he just learns that it is MLS and not MSL...

i read his journal and found it interesting that he stated that the mls has a long preseason and that we train hard. He certainly seemed like he isn't use to it. IMO he didn't have much of a preseason. I don't think he play in one full game yet. what is up with that???

Yeah, I've also been following the Rapids match reports this preseason wondering where Grimandi is....he's a pretty decent player.

If there were one player that probably had the least experience of playing in -- and thus could use the preparation for -- playing in the heat of summer, it's Grimandi.

It is odd that he apparently hasn't been in Mexico.

it's kind of funny that Grimandi calls the US style of play "naive" compared to European style (on his website)...what does that mean!?
Well...I guess that means the European style of play is naive compared to the South American style! haha

But at least he compliments the American work ethic of high levels of fitness and skill :]

Could it just be a documents problem? Something like to establish a certain status w/his U.S. paperwork he has to stay in the country a certain length of time before he can leave again?

His personal style of play in the EPL rather hard and cynical, so perhaps that is what he meant. Cutting-down the guy who beats you is anything but naive.

I was thinking the same thing, but that seems rather inconvenient, and wouldn't that be a problem not only here, but all over Europe and South America too, with all of the transfers and player movement that take place in those leagues? Zizi just got here too and he travelled with the team.

I thought I saw Grimandi on MSNBC walkin' around Baghdad with one of those "Human Shield" jackets... :)
