I was in Tir Na Nog in Philadelphia (16th + Arch). The place was absolutely packed (some folks had to actually stand outside; they could not see anything but only listenend..!). When Donovan scored the placed went wild. We were packed in like Sardines so when everyone jumped up and down beer flew all over the place! Was extreme!!! I was there 4 years ago during the 3rd game against Ghana when the bar was also packed but this time it was more packed and we had fortunately a much better result!
I was at the office, trying to get some work done. The DVR was recording at home, so I figured I'd catch the game when I got home. But I was spoiled by a deafening roar from the cafeteria, where unbeknownst to me, the game was on the cafe's TV. It was surreal hearing such a reaction from my co-workers, who I had never known to give a crap about soccer. ------RM
I presume your question is directed towards US fans since I am not familar with the significance of the date. Moved to USA Men.
I was at home because I had taken my car in the day before. I'll be at Fox and Hound or Tir Na Nog tomorrow unless Fado has another block party.
I was stuck in a client meeting for the entire game. Meeting ended 5 minutes after the game. I was almost in tears to miss the game. I had no idea what was going on (there were four die-hard fans in the meeting) but we heard some cheering at the end so "figured" something good happened. WOW just WOW!
I was on an airplane and I was just sitting there so sad and depressed. My dad was saying it is over, USA is just so unlucky. Then donovan scores and about 15 people on the airplane yelled
In the garage with a few of my buddies. I threw my beer in the air and went running screaming through the neighborhood when we scored.
I was in a meeting at work looking grim and being depressed, and constantly refreshing my Android for PbP update
I took the morning off from work, had my head in my hand a lot of down after so many missed chances. Best time I had skipping work Tomorrow I'm thinking Buffalo Wild Wings in North Brunswick.
took the day off for vacation (two months ago knowing the game was coming). Not too many bars open in "the belt," and I was watching my three month old Landon (yes, he is named after you know who). He started crying during the second half about as bad as I have ever heard him. Didn't make the situation any better. Momma got home @ 89 min. I was pacing, he had finally went to sleep. Two minutes later, Landon got to hear Mommy and Daddy screaming.
First half watched in horror as ESPN3 ceased to work on my office computer. Desperatly searched for a live feed and wound up watching on Univision's website with the other interns huddled around me. 2nd half forced to sit in on a meeting with no air conditioning. I have no idea what was discussed as I was too busy getting regular updates on my iphone. Muffled celebration.
was driving around the beltway with my boss following behind. listened to the game on espn deportes radio. when donovan scored i almost ran off the road and then forgot to get off at my exit. didn't care. just screamed yes about 34 times in a row. should have just taken the day off
Was at Fado in Philly sitting on the floor up by the big screen (only place where there was room) If I didn't have my medical boards on Wednesday I'd get up and grab a spot at Fado or Dark Horse the moment they opened, but I'll probably hit up Fox and Hound instead where I know I can get in the door.
At home.. After the game I went out though and watched the Ghana game and met some other fans. I will hopefully be watching the game with them tomorrow at Bufallo Wild Wings
First half in my home gym riding an elliptical. 2nd half with my daughters watching in the living room. They kept saying "daddy, what color do you want to win?".
Took the day off work because of the match. Ended up driving 3 hours each way the night before to see Tool in Austin, TX knowing I had the next day off already. Got about 4 hours of sleep. Woke up for the match too tired to walk to the local pub. Ended up watching with my dog on the couch. I think I scared the life out of her for the final 30 minutes of the match. When Donovan scored that goal, I was out on my apartment patio (which is first floor poolside) and started screaming like the Incredible Hulk. Part of me wishes my wife was home with me for that one moment. But the other part knows that she would have been in the other room with ear-muffs for the entire second half. Won't ever forget that morning.
At Berry Park in Brooklyn, standing on top of a table, hugging strangers and holding a flag with tears in my eyes.
Coming home from a conference. Was in the airport, of all places, with the flight slated to take off midway through second half. Coworkers who didn't make the trip said, "Dude, just get bumped and take a later flight." Not so easy after several days away from family... Running back and forth between the gate and the outside of the bar. Bad weather delayed the flight just enough to see the end of the game. When the USA scored, there were random high fives, but I think the one bro-hug was between two dudes who worked together. ~OGx3
I was on my work truck driving through the Agriculture fields listening to the game on the Radio. I was saying "Its over, Its over," when around the 89th minute i lost signal of the radio station and counld hear anything after that. But 5 minutes later I get a phone call from my wife and she told me "Guess what?" with calmly voice. I said "What?" She them replied with a little pause, "WE WON!!!!!!!!!!" I had to stop the pickup and got off the truck to celebrate. "Yeaaaaaaaaahhhhh"
Joy Bar, a Dutch-owned bar, in Shanghai with mostly Englishmen watching the other game, some Dutchmen/women, some other Europeans, and Chinese watching both games, and a Chinese couple (guy studied in California), my wife and I glued to the US game, and the local wait staff humored by the crazy laowais (foreigners) and feeding us all drinks.
Took a vacation day (best ever) and watched it at an overflowed Vaughn's in Hartford. Still wear the goose bumps.
