Aside from the Internet, which doesn't work for me, where can you purchase Quakes merchandise? I've seen people asking about it in different threads, but I don't see a lot of responses. So, if you know of any place to purchase merchandise, do us all a favor and post it here so we can stock up for the road trip. And no, I've already tried the Quakes head office. They stopped selling merchandise there for whatever reason. See you all in Carson!
I even checked ebay (Landon's jersey wasn't there, though there were several Landon bobbleheads). Call it a missed marketing opportunity?
There's not too many places selling Earthquakes gear. Especially in the off season. Many people had to wait half this season for the new kits that were supposedly going to be ready early. Anyways it looks like you may be lucky and find that shirt or sweater or whatever at the final. Good luck -
One thing I don't get is....Johnny obviously goes through these posts. You'd think he would see that people are asking about merchandise. Well, take all that crap they have at the games, and get whatever else you can get your hands on and open up shop in the BIG lobby at the head office on Stevens Creek. Gosh....I came up with that without a marketing degree.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, but as I said in my original post, I'm looking for a place to buy merchandise in a store, not over the internet, since that won't work for me. But thank you though!
Tony, Check with Brian Holmes at Soccer International/Cal Custom in Santa Clara. He sometimes has stuff...
They really need to get some merchandise in brick and motar stores throughout the Bay Area, this is one of those issues that defines a team as "Major League". Hell I can go to the Puma store in San Francisco and buy a Fire kit, yet last time I checked at the Nike store in SF no Quakes stuff, they did however have a few European team kits for sale. What gives?
I agree. The internet is great if you have an idea of what you are looking for, but they need to find a way to get into stores. Heck, even if people don't buy it, at least it's in there face. And yeah....very strange that you can get a Fire jersey, but not a Quakes jersey up in the city. Wacky!
my birthday present a NJ Devils jacket, they look all over for a Metrostars jacket couldn't be found anywhere in the metropolitan area.
What you could do is just wait until this weekend. It could get expensive purchasing merchandise at the stadium, but thats the only place I can think of
they may not have any Earthquakes merchandise at HDC this weekend. it may be all "MLS Cup 2003" stuff. i hope, however, they have some earthquakes' hats so i can buy one for my fat head.
Obviously, this isn't just a San Jose issue, or an Earthquakes issue, Frank. Tell you what-- it's a global issue as well. I went into the NikeTown store in Melbourne, on Bourke Street, and asked them if they were able to special-order any MLS gear with the Nike licence on it, such as that of the Quakes. After all the obligatory "huh"s and "who"s I tend to get around here with regard to American soccer, I think the manager there said it was a tough chance in getting something as simple as a replica jersey in there. And the NikeTown in Collingwood (which is more of an outlet than a large store, like the one in Melbourne is), pretty much the same story there. Very frustrating process, indeed... I can understand what my friends back home in San Jose and in the Bay Area are going through.
Im pretty sure they might. I mean, they would make one hell of a profit if they did. I wouldnt be suprised in seeing alot of Chicago or San Jose gear. But if all fails, just take off your shirt and paint yourself blew.
I think when our new stadium is built, they will have a Earthquakes store and restaurant. At least we can hope for one.
http://www.soccerintl.com these are the folks that actually customize the authentic jersey's for the team.
I will order my new Quakes jersey once it gets the second star over the shield. That better be next Monday.
Thanks for the tip...Unfortunately I don't know if I will have time to drive up to SF between now and the weekend, but I'll keep it in mind for later.
Many of the smaller soccer stores in the Bay Area have at least a few Quake items, like jerseys. Try Soccer USA in San Jose near the corner of Hamilton and San Tomas.
Good news and bad news on this front... The Sports Fever chain here in the Bay Area just got a shipment of jerseys from Nike including Quakes. Bad news, unless the manager that I asked was blind or clueless (and he freely admits he's soccer-clueless), no stars. But at least it's something.
What color are the stars on the real jerseys? You can order iron-on star patches (yellow, blue, red or green) from this website. A DC United poster on this thread added three star patches to his jersey. There is a link to a picture of his altered jersey in that thread. It looks pretty cool.
A word to the wise: Have it done by Brian at California Custom. My jersey was lettered by him and he does the stars, too. In fact, he is the one who does the jerseys for the team. I think you can get that stuff done by mail, also. Anyone have the address and contact info?
