LOSC @losclive Triple changement. Sortie de Ounas, Cabella et Baleba et entrée de Virginius, Weah et Martin. #LOSCESTAC 2-0 I 74'
They're using him as a sub, and it was unlikely to change over a good WC showing. 333' so far, he's going to end the season with less than 1,000 minutes.
whomever is running Lille is not that smart....how do you waste a player like Weah off a good WC? at minimum, play him and sell him if you aren't interested.....he's obviously good enough for Ligue 1....so him not playing is not because of talent/ability. Just play him and sell him Weah needs to leave that mess.
L'Equipe says he's in demand: L'ÉQUIPE @lequipe Timothy Weah, the versatile LOSC striker, is closely followed by Sevilla FC and several English clubs: Fulham, Everton and Brighton http://ow.ly/bSqp50MoUCt
He should be in demand.... his pace is legit and he has good technical skills. I wish he would be a bit better at finishing but hopefully that will improve with more reps. I think he has been benched at Lille because they know he is out the door. He may be a bit better than his competition at Lille at RW but not so much better that the coach is going to make others with a longer stay at Lille in the their future sit in favor of him. If he scored even remotely as much as David then he would be starting.
They tied 0-0 and go again on Sunday. Ounas went 75 v. Troyes, and 83 v Brest. They have a full week off from Sunday till the next cup game. Weah should get in Sunday - but will he get a start? After beating Troyes 2-0 last Sunday Fonseca has to be reluctant to change the Ounas/Gomes/Cabella starting 3. Ounas and Cabella went at least 75 + 85 in last 7 days. Cabella even bit more with a full game yesterday. Gomes came in as a sub v. Brest. Some chance Weah starts, perhaps, but probably subs for Ounas in 2nd at some point depending on score.
Would love to see Tim at Fulham- he’d be excellent depth and would get a chance to step up his game against better competition. AND, Tim with the beautiful goal already this morning.
ESPN doesn’t show Timo as one of the goal scorers. And it seems to show him lining up as probably a wingback.
That's correct. I watched off & on. He played left back, was very involved in the attack, forced a couple saves, one of which was put away for their 3rd goal, and like clockwork, went off with an injury around the 70th minute. After a strong outing, Tim #Weah limps off injured for @LOSC_EN. He grabbed his calf after taking a shot in the 71st min and left under his own power. Hopefully just some momentary cramping or a minor calf strain for the #USMNT attacker. 😰 pic.twitter.com/t3Hr8FZkg7— Yanks Abroad (@yanks_abroad) January 15, 2023
Google says he played LB and that he did not have a goal or an assist despite Lille scoring 5. And of course David had 2. He needs to get out of there so bad.
The coach seems to agree. "For Tim, it's not a problem, it's muscle fatigue." (apparently from his post-game presser) Thank goodness, I was worried that the new USMNT left-back would have a break in his development into the position.
Probably from my errant post on his gameday thread. Trying to work and follow the game at the same time. Multitasking isn't my specialty. Didn't see about half the game, but Timmy seems to have a relatively quiet match.
I considered throwing you under the bus, but that would just be disguising my extreme laziness in not checking myself (or even watching the match . . .).
In very important Weah news a very reliable poll has the vast majority of Losc fans voting that they should keep him at least till summer with a plurality voting to keep him beyond summer. This will have a massive effect on his future, I predict. (fwiw, it mentions - like others - seville and brugge interest.) https://www.lepetitlillois.com/2023/01/20/sondage-le-losc-doit-il-accepter-de-vendre-timothy-weah/
