The team has been winning, check. (This is what matters most, and allows a coach a lot of leeway.) Weah is returning from a serious injury that required a long lay-off, check. (This justifies some level of caution, though here it provides a poor justification for Weah's actual minutes played in each game.) Some of the alternative forward choices have been productive, check. (But not all, including one prominent exception.) Allow me to cherry pick one particular Lille stat: League games - expected goals/90 minutes: Players above 2.5 xG/90 Tim Weah Players above 2.0 Tim Weah Players above 1.5 Tim Weah Players above 1.0 Tim Weah, Yusuf Yazici Players above .5 Tim Weah, Yusuf Yazici And yes, Yazici is that Yazici, who just scored at hatririck and was named Europa League player of the week. It's hard not to believe that Weah is deserving of more chance and more playing time.
David is Lille’s record signing. There is going to be a different set of rules for him, unfortunately.
Yeah... this has been discussed ad nauseam... It seems like a 3rd of the posts (including a few of mine) over the past several weeks have focused on David's atrocious form.... and it has been atrocious. But 30 million is a giant sum for Lille and they are going to want a return on the investment. As long as they keep winning they are going to keep him in there. He has missed so many sitters you have to expect that sooner or later he will put a few in. Now... if they start losing and his form remains this poor then perhaps they will bench him for a bit and try a little negative reinforcement. Unfortunately, even if they sit him.... it lookms like Weah won't be the guy coming in.... and perhaps Weah is already starting to let it get to him from an attitude perspective? Take a look at the twitter group photo: https://twitter.com/LOSC_EN?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author Does that look like a happy camper?
Hmmm. David is starting this one on the bench. Probably a good idea. He might do better with a bit if fire lit under his @**.
Yep, david bumping down a peg causes weah to bump down a peg too and now isn't even on the bench. Tough spot for him, his team is flying and it seems they have plenty of young attacking options
Weah is the type of player who looks awesome for a minute and disappears for 30. Managers are not fans of such players, unless they actually score during that minute. And even then, they're often used as super-subs only.
He was out for a year with multiple severe muscular injuries requiring surgery...perhaps it will be a long road back
The coach had good things to say: https://www.lepetitlillois.com/2020/10/24/pourquoi-timothy-weah-ne-joue-pas-galtier-repond/ “Tim is a new player. Like Isaac (Lihadji). It happened last season, such a dark season is rare. We know the boy, his state of mind, the efforts he made to come back, what he endured: the injuries, the operations… We would have another Tim if he had participated in 15 games last season but he didn't participate in many sessions. ”
If this is Thursday, it must be Europa League! Lille hosts Celtic in one of the 'early set' of games, at 1:55 PM eastern. Weah included in the 23-man Groupe.
It sounds like St Etienne and Schalke both tried to get him on loan at the end of the last transfer window
The indications of late are that the team doesn't need him unless there are a rash of injuries. Normally I would prefer a loan to a BDL Team... but Schalke has been a train wreck. Hmmm... since it is a loan I think I would still prefer Schalke. Perhaps he could make a legit difference and help keep that side up?
Not sure what the attacking options are at St. Etienne... I've seen enough of Schalke to know how desperate they are up front/ out wide.... I feel like he would play a lot at Schalke. So I wouldn't hate it.
An underrated aspect of loans is the ability to speak the native language, so that's another strike against Schalke for me (unless Weah speaks German and I'm unaware of it). Plus, I've escaped that abusive relationship already and I do not want to be pulled back in.

It is kind of crazy that we have barely any US Intl's playing in Europa League based on how many we have in the CL. So many games... but they hold no interest to me. Bummer.
I would love Schalke just for the simple fact that I can watch all his games on ESPN+. dont think I would be able to watch St Etienne ever
