Two years ago I sat down with John Murphy and talked about the draft. At the time, he was doing most of the college scouting for the team.

His notes said the two best college players he had seen were Oguchi Onweyu and Shalrie Joseph. When Onweyu went to France, Fernando Clavijo picked Joseph.

This year his notes and the anecdotes he heard from Jerry Yeagley said that Pat Noon would be the best available player. Not because he was all flash and scoring goals all the time, but because he was emotionally mature, tactically intelligent and technically adept.

From a time when Revolution coaches and management seemed to flail like beached croakers at draft time, we've come a long, long way.

    Amen John.

Considering how few players the Revs have drated the past few years the quality and impact of the few players they have brought in is way above average for MLS and miles above previous outcomes. Well Done Staff.

I still say Stapleton had the best eye for talent. Peter Woodring, Bojan Vukovic and Iain Fraser ... need I say more?

Don't forget Richard Weisman, Tom Lips, Kevin Wylie, and 'The Haitian Sensation' Patrick Tardieu....
