Does anyone know his status? Is he going to leave the team before playing in one game like Grimandi? Are the Rapids (coaches and GM) scaring away potential players? What's the deal?
No need to freak out. When the Rapids/MLS announced his signing (May 29th), it was made clear that he wouldn't be joining the team until his work permit cleared. Typically this takes at least 2 weeks, sometimes longer. So at the very soonest we're looking at Powell not being with the team (legally, anyway) before the end of this week. Likely longer.
Hankinson said last Tuesday in an interview that he expected Powell in about 2 weeks. And he expected him to be able to play right away. Not 90, but available for some time. http://www.cybersoccernews.com/mls/rapids/030606col-galadv.shtml Look towards the bottom of the story.
