They heard, 16 years ago, a transmission that repeated those numbers over and over; the ship changed course to investigate and thus went on the island. She indicated that the message was the one playing on the loop on the radio tower before she changed it to hers.

Hurley goes to Australia and learns from Leonard's partner's wife that Leonard and his partner heard the same transmission also 16 years ago.

She calls him father, but is it biological or kidnapped at birth so doesn't know better?
