I am looking for online box scores of national team games from the past. I wanted to see the one from circa 1979 when the U.S. played against France in Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. I also want to see others. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Would appreciate much. Thanks.
Here's a start- although the full box score of the game you're looking for isn't there. http://www.sams-army.com/index.php?Mlist=results
It may be here. I didn't check but it's a great site anyway. http://www.sover.net/~spectrum/ If you can't find it anywhere you might e-mail that site because if anyone has the box score, he might or he could point you in the right direction.
http://www.ussoccer.fcpages.com/ My Bruce Arena site has every lineup since Bruce's first game. I dunno if thats what you're looking for. Oh and yes I know I haven't updated it since before the Mexico game.
Glad to find your site. Thanks. He's looking for 1979 USA vs France. That's a chore. US Soccer would have it in their files though.
These were the matches in 1979 of USA vs France. I may still find the box scores on the net. USA vs France Date Venue Result Competition Comments 2 May 1979 Home L 0-6 Friendly 10 Oct 1979 Away L 0-3 Friendly
I found the Giants Stadium box score on the French FA's site: http://www.fff.fr/cgi-bin/historique/hist_detail.pl?nomatch=391 Here is the URL for the other friendly: http://www.fff.fr/cgi-bin/historique/hist_detail.pl?nomatch=393 Thanks!
Glad you found them. Hopefully the USA will get another box score against France at the Confederations Cup soon.
One name I did not recognize from the U.S. roster in the '79 games vs. France was Antonio Crudo. Who was he?!
Maybe we will win this time. Yes, I know the French lineup is formidable. But who knows? There is a possibility that we will play them. And it is confirmed that the U.S. and France will play against each other during the Rugby World Cup. If the press here really gave a darn about either sport, the games would be front page news given the political differences we have had with them over the Iraq affair.
