I was planning to get up and go watch it somewhere, but I'll be out quite late tonight so I'm setting an alarm next to my couch (where I'll end up crashing when I get home) to watch it with a massive hangover here in Denver.
I will be watchin from the Hanbury pub here in Burton, Staffordshire consuming copious amounts of alcohol.... good luck to the lads tomorrow~~~ cheers phishy
Uh, am I missing something here? Do most people not go to the bar right after breakfast? Which is to say...I will be at Ginger's Ale House at 8:30. Rumor has it, for my fellow Chitowners, that Sedgwick's is showing the game without the $20 cover at 11.
unfortunately ill need to catch a replay - ill be making my way down to US v. england women's friendly - hope i can get through the day without anybody telling me what happened - pulling for the gunners though - LORD DENNIS CLAIM THY SILVER!!!
you can't go wrong with copious amounts of alcohol. I'm consuming a pleathora of different brews tonight.
Normally, I'd be going to the Dark Horse in Philly to watch the match - can't beat the all you can eat breakfast buffet! However, I'm stuck at work until just before kickoff, so I'll just watch it at home. Maybe the BBC will call again...
Nevada Smith's in the NYC. Anyone going there, look for me. I'll be wearing a JVC jersey, red Nike baseball cap and I'll have a red backpack. Say you're an Arsenal American and I've got some goodies for you.
On my couch in my apartment in beautiful East Providence, RI. I was just kidding about the beautiful part. I won't be alone though since I'll be watching with my roomates who I converted into soccer fans.
at home with my neutral neighbor. I, however, will have my shirt on, a cup of tea, and my scarf either around my neck, in my hands or hanging from my porch. Come on Arsenal Come on Arsenal. On another point, does anyone have a video of the Charlton match at Highbury from this year? I was there and would love a copy if it was broadcast and anyone has it. For that matter, I would love a video copy of any match we saw: Liverpool v. Auxerre 2/27 Arsenal v. Charlton 3/2 Villa v. Birmingham 3/3 We also saw Brentford v. Tranmere on 3/1 and Rotherham v. Sheff Utd on 2/28 but I'm confident neither of those were televised in the US. If someone happened to record Sky Sports News either of those days (or, come to think of it, the EPL Review Show the following week), I would love a copy. Come on Arsenal! Frank Garrison
Piper's Pub on the South Side of Pittsburgh. $15 cover and a 10 am start time. I'll be there with my new FA Cup Final t-shirt on under my DB10 shirt, with my lucky Steeler hat.
The Millenium Stadium, Cardiff. Block N2, Row 8, Seat 24. I don't know what's wrong with me at the moment. It's 6:15, I'm not leaving for another three hours and I can't sleep. I thought I got over this cup final excitement stuff when I was 10!
WOW! Jealousy oozes from my pores. I will be $25 poorer and watching it on tape as I must tape the PPV. Work sucks!
Well I had a great time in Cardiff yesterday, and the win was well received! I hope that your coverage got to show the team celebrating on the pitch. That was more exciting than the game! Toure doing "back flips" and GS19 and SW11 dancing and "samba"-ering. Then the whole squad did a "conga" line dance in front of the Gooners at our end. It was great. I hope that those watching at Nevada Smiths and the bars in D.C. that I visited had a great time and wherever everyone else watched. Just on a sad note. "So close to the "Double Double"!!.
Yeah, we got to see all that. Also got to see Toure get "pantsed," as per the custom for rookies, apparently. Also saw an ecstatic Wiltord bust into Seaman's live interview, scream something incoherent at the camera, and give him a big hug. Also saw Henry interrupt Pires's interview by asking the announcer if he (Henry) needed to translate for Pires. Good times.
My personal favorite moment in the celebration was when the interviewer asked Henry about his yellow for diving. Henry replied, "I suppose I should have just dove in the first half." Absolutely classic!
I thought Setanta did a good job with post-game celebrations, they have a habit of making me mad at what they don't show so I was glad to see it all. The only thing I did not understand is what Wiltord said to Seaman. Understand Sol when he jumped on Seaman. Lots of funny seeing them, they where so happy.
Was that not the most refreshing thing you have ever heard. Honesty in its purest form, that and I was thinking the same thing.
I second that comment, Setanta did well to show the celebrations, I hate when we win something and then the coverage goes off and we are stuck all alone in the USA celebrating and no one knows what we are up to!
We ended up with 5 people watching the game at our house, and 3 of us left happy. The celebrations were great! I'm glad the lads didn't let the missed chance at the double spoil their fun. I liked the way Seaman was able to duck the question about being in goal next season. Henry's comment about the dive was classic, too. I'm just happy we went home with a trophy, and can't wait to do it all again next season! (I thought it was really cool the Saints fans stuck around to support their team, too. The announcers commented several times that the losing fans are generally gone way before the medals are handed out.)
I felt it was good too to see the Saints fans right there to the end, as Erika commented, and seeing the Chelsea lot last year, the losers don't tend to "hang around". However it's nearly 30 years since their last final, and probably another 30 'til their next, so milk it for what you can. Still the ones that I met were generous in defeat. (As if they really expected to win!!).
