I am in LA area. Does anyone know where they will be showing the game? Also I guess if you are from some other part of the country you could also answer for your fellow USMNT fans,
Holy cow, it's $750 to $1000 to show in a bar? I guess we now know why it took so long for bars to show up on the list on the US Soccer site.
I've been calling around in Orange County and so far nothing. I'm lucky if I don't get laughed at. I've been to that bar in San Diego once for a US game, and I couldn't get near the place because it was mobbed. I wish somebody near me would get a clue.
Know anyone who wants to watch the game? If the bars have a $10 cover, seems worth it to get the PPV if even a couple others will chip in. You'll miss the atmosphere, but the food and beer will be cheaper... Is the PPV in HD? (Is that dependent on one's carrier?)
Wouldn't the two spots in LA be closer to you (although they might be Guatemala bars)? I'm hoping I get a seat at O'Briens....leaving work at 5 and should be there by 530.
I'm about halfway in between the two downtowns, and would much rather travel to SD than LA. But for this game I'll be searching for an illegal stream, I'm sure. The last time I tried to go to O'Brien's it was for the final qualifier against Honduras, and I got home in time to see Donovan hit a wonderful free kick on a grainy feed on my computer. Should have stayed home in the first place! But good luck to you, and I hope all these bars have a good turnout.
Can someone please walk this technophobe thru how to order this game on Comcast InDemand? I can't even find it listed.... Thanks.
In my Comcast area, there are a few PPV channels (labelled "PPV1," "PPV2," etc. on the high end of the "dial," in the 900's on the regular channel guide. Look in the guide on Tues night for the game. (It's listed as "World Cup Qualifying Soccer" in my guide, with Guatemala vs. US listed in the details, don't get distracted by all the porn [or at least, come back before Tuesday]). Look into the "info" on the program and there should be a "buy" option.
I hope your list is correct. Before this thread began, I actually CALLED Fado's in DC, and was told that they were not showing it. So I'll now call again armed with this information and see if they change their tune.
The location for the match in Indy ChathamTap tweeted that the price was based on occupancy... And that their downtown (Mass Ave) location has the game and NOT the larger Fishers, IN location. FYI... See you there Tues night!
Thanks. Looks like you can't order it until an hour before, scary if they don't have their act together....
I won't be able to make it home or into the city in time, so my choices are the Jersey locations: Centro Americano Bar, El Trebol, Jr Paraiso, Pueblo Viejo and Lookers. Four Spanish bars or a gentleman's club. Sigh. Why couldn't a Buffalo Wing Wings in NJ have ponied up?
Yeah, I looked at the website of the South Florida bar, and it's not listed with their other upcoming games....
How pathetic is the U.S. Soccer site. They have a list of places you can see it, and the only things it's sorted by is alphabetically by bar? Nobody considered that people might appreciate it at least grouped by state? They even have different abbreviations for the states *sigh*
DirecTV subscribers, if you scroll down this page: http://www.directv.com/entertainment/events you will see "The Road to the 2014 FIFA World Cup BrazilTM", under which there is a "Guatemala vs...". Clicking that will take you to: https://www.directv.com/entertainment/program/details/EP014003851874 where you can order.
Californians go check the US Soccer website. They just added a ton of places that should be showing the game. Looks like even little crapholes like Fresno and Modesto have possibilities.
