Let's see how some recent managers and players faired this season. Jose - finished 2nd in League. But trophyless. Knocked out of domestic and Europe cups. Conte - won the Scudetto Nuno Santo - finished 7th in PL with Nottingham Forest. With 65 pts, just one point under 5th place Newcastle who qualifies for Champions League. A disappointing finish for Forest but a overachieving season nonetheless. Pochettino - head coach of USMNT. He has mixed reviews. Some are not happy with him already as he has not lived up to expectations yet with lackluster results in concacaf. Harry Kane - won his first ever trophy with Bayern winning Bundesliga. Won 2nd golden boot in his Bundesliga era. Eric Dier - won title trophy with Kane at Bayern. Scored a goal for Bayern.
Oliver Skipp - played in midfield for a spectacularly shite Leicester City team that went down on 25 points with a -47 goal differential. Harry Winks - played in midfield for a spectacularly shite Leicester City team that went down on 25 points with a -47 goal differential.
Lo Celso had moderate success with Real Betis, making it to the Conference League final and losing to Chelsea.
Hugo Lloris is doing so-so with LAFC in MLS. I still think he should have just retired. Respect to him though.
He's at PSV. He did get 16 goals, but only nine were in the Eredivisie. Three were in Europe and four in the Dutch domestic cup. Still a decent player, though. We've definitely had worse.
Apparently Erik Lamela has terminated his contract at AEK and is now retired. For Spurs: 37 goals 2 Rabonas 1 Puskas Incalculable shithousery
I was just watching his Puskas goal on youtube shorts. And I commented that he never lived up to his potential but that he was a good teammate. He was a good role player. And it seemed like they liked having him around. He's 33? That's the perfect age to go to MLS haha
Harry Kane has 11 goals in 6 games in Bundesliga. just crazy Heung Min Son has 8 goals in 8 games in MLS. And his LAFC team look like contenders. Hope he wins a trophy.
What's making him and Son score more freely for their respective teams than they did for us? What's wrong at Tottenham? Maybe the problem has gone and we just need time to gel. Still living in Levy's shadow maybe.
Kane didn't exactly struggle for goals at ours. Son, either, until he lost a step of pace. But he's still two notches above MLS in terms of quality, so its no shock he's scoring again.
It seems he went to MLS too early. He still has a lot left in the tank obviously. Maybe the PL was too fast for him, but he could have went to France or Italy. Or heck Saudi. But LA makes sense in that there's a ton of Koreans there and Hugo Lloris is there.
Kane is playing with a team that is oozing quality in every position. So the fact he scored 30 in a really poor side in his final season with us shows how good he really is. As for Son, MLS is a shit league, so no surprise there.
Agreed but when did Son last score 8 goals in 8 matches for us? Look how quickly Kane has reached 100 goals.
He used to pop up every now and again on talksport for commentary awhile back. Turns out hes a bright, thoughtful, coherent, articulate fellow, Andros. No reason he shouldn't be, of course, but you dont typically get that from the young, insulated, disproportionately wealthy, footy-focused people that the professional game tends to produce. He's got a future in punditry if he wants it.
