Maybe I missed something having been stuck in France last week and cutoff from English speaking civilization, but what happend to the Revs? There seems to be no news of any kind from camp for days. I've concluded that some of the following things might be possible:

    1) They send everyone home from camp for a week (without pay) to save money.

    2) They're trying to create local interest in the team by making them invisible in the media

    3) They've fired everyone and will dress the Cape Cod Crusaders for their games (a big $$$ savings)

Really, it's easier to find out news about almost any other team in the MLS then the Revs.

Maybe Frank D'A is on vacation ?

I am not sure there is much to report. While the BS fanatics want to hear every little tid bit, I don't think we are enough of a force to make the media outlets change their reporting.

Here's all I know: The team is practicing this weekend. No new trialists so far but some expected. A lot of fitness training. Joey and Rusty won the beep test.

Any time you feel negative vibes just remember this time last Spring and then fast forward ahead to how it turned out.

This team is alot stronger, fitter, and more together than any Revs team ever. It should be a great season.

Well, this time last year Revolution fans were feeling quite confident with the opening of a new stadium, and the addition of some highly-talented players in Diallo, Serna, Llamosa, and Chacon.

Granted, if you fast-forward to the end of the season you see the Revs coming within inches of winning the 2003 MLS Cup, but in between you skipped over a period of self-destruction that saw the team come minutes from being eliminated from post-season contention.

As Revolution supporters we'd just like enough to go on to create a little bit of buzz... and we're not getting that at this point.

It's not just Rev Supporters that need a "little buzz." Rev management should be creating (an wanting) this buzz. How are you supposed to market a team to the masses without any press coverage? Have the Rev's replaced Jurgen Mainka? Someone is asleep at the wheel.

The home opener is April 19th. Rev management should be fighting to keep a little exposure in the press. They have to fight the Red Sox for media competiton and the Red Sox are tops in New England. Quite ponderous this marketing plan.

REVS managment is the worst managment in MLS history. They suck!! They bought the Revs just to put their name on the list. But they spend all their time working on the Patriots. I don't think the Revs owner know all his team players' names. WHATTA SHAME!! I still think Revs fans deserve a better managment than the CRAPY one they have now.I ****ing hate the Revs' managment.

"Have the Rev's replaced Jurgen Mainka? Someone is asleep at the wheel."

There was mention made a month or two back that Jurgen's responsibilities would be taken over by an existing member of the New England Patriot's front office.

No name was given, but my guess at the time was Meg Vaillancourt, the Pat's Vice President for Corporate and Community Affairs. She was involved in any number of public affairs efforts on behalf of the Pat's, having come to the Kraft organization after spending many years as both a TV and print journalist. She was a member of the Boston Globe for about ten years, she a reporter for WGBH-TV, also working on Frontline[/] for PBS.

Not going to be the case though: Ms. Vaillancourt was just hired by the Red Sox as their senior vice president of corporate relations and special projects.

So the question remains: who's handling the Revs communications efforts, and if they're looking to hire someone, who may be in the running?

I might be spilling the proverbial beans here, but I believe the Juergen's replacement is Kelly Williams, who was the team's Broadcast and Promotions Manager last year.

And there's no news coming out of Revs camp because there's no news coming out of Revs camp. Everyone seems pretty happy, there aren't many injuries, and there aren't any trialists in camp right now.

It doesn't look like they'll be bringing in any of the Brazilians that they were interested in, but it does look like there will be some trialists from a different part of the world in Foxboro at some point in the near future.

Both Kante brothers will probably sign contracts with the team before the start of the season. Daouda probably some time this week; Ibrahim will more than likely sign a developmental deal shortly thereafter.

There IS one fairly significant story that might develop over the next 7-10 days, but unfortunately, I don't think I can talk about it, yet.

Can you say whether it's good significant or bad significant?

But that never stops the Red Sox from writing press releases that say "Pedro Martinez threw for 20 minutes today and says he 'feels real good.'" OK, the papers would more likely run the Pedro story, but the Revs could spoon-feed the same kind of "Greenidge" stories to the media, the up-close-and-peersonal interviews with various key Rev players. Light on the substance, but at least they get the name out there so that people won't think Steve Ralston is the brother of a guy who plays for the Bruins.

    The Big News

Mike, i will break the big news that you are waiting to divulge. Really it's no problem.

I have been brought on in an intern-basis to assist Kelly Williams with the media relations side of the job that has been vacant since Jurgen left.

I figure that all the national news outlets will be there tomorrow when I make my debut, there is even a rumor that Pres. Bush will declare it a national holiday.

Hopefully this will end the suspense and I can begin to fill the big shoes that Jurgen left behind all while aiding Kelly in getting even more and more importantly more consistent coverage for our organization.

Oh ya one of those paragraphs is laden with sarcasm and I'd given a tener to the first person to reveal the correct one but I'm not getting paid (so don't blame me if we can't sign Kante under the cap...not that staff salaries figure into that) so the winner only receives my admiration.

So there it is, the vail has been lifted and the I am ready to meet my public.

I fully intend to give this job my all in the desperate attempt to make the Revs realize that I'm needed and thus worthy of financial reimbusment and hopefully we can use these forums, like you have for years, to kepp everyone in the know.

    Mike,

Have you heard anything about I.K.'s ability? Is he someone who may contribute at the MLS level this year?

Umm... It's probably too early to tell, but right now I can't really see how it could be all that bad.

Tony could probably answer this better than I, because all I've heard about him is that Ibrahim's got a positively thunderous left foot.

Are the Kante brothers descended from Kunta Kante, made famous by Bill Haley in his book, Roots?
