Lithuania on one side, German/Dutch the other; on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FamilyTree -- I'm sure we can figure it out!
There's plenty of drinking vessels out there, but none that have caught on quite like the beer sabre. The lore of the majestic plastic sword, the difficulty of drinking from it and it's return in the future."I think there will be more to come for sure."https://t.co/GV1auJjdii— Alaina Getzenberg (@agetzenberg) May 14, 2026
“A Game-By-Game Look at the San Francisco 49ers 2026 Schedule Release” (SF49ers.com - Thursday, 5/14/26) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Looks like a medium/easy schedule to me. Hope it plays out that way. OTOH, the Packers have a much tougher schedule (goes along with being in what is currently a much tougher division):
There’ll be two international travel games for the San Francisco 49ers this coming season: in Melbourne, Australia against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1 on Thursday, September 10th on Netflix, and in Mexico City, Mexico against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11 on Sunday, November 22nd on NBC. When you play football in Australia, you are required by governmental decree to play "Austalian Rules Football", which should make for an interesting game!
IIRC when Kaval first came aboard as Quakes president or whatever he was, he was fond of using the term "association football", I guess with the intent to impress people with his deep knowledge or to try to cover "soccer" (from "association"?) and "football" at the same time? From Kaval's Kickoff, 4/19/2011: "One of my favorite things about association football is the nature and spectacle of the supporters. No other sport offers the passion and intensity of 90 minutes plus of controlled chaos. Chants, tifo, parades into the stadia, and flags bigger than you can imagine all characterize the nature and spirit of the supporter's groups. The renaissance of association football here in North America over the past three years with the addition of the Pacific Northwest teams in MLS has been turbocharged by the supporter’s culture."
Will you two be meeting up at that game, with the postgame meal being either cheese & brats or buffalo wings with a choice of ranch or blue cheese (or both) dipping sauce, depending on which team wins? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Just imagine if the first three letters of “Association Football” was used in the old English newspaper box scores (as was the usual tradition, such as “RUG” for “Rugby Football”) instead of the “SOC” that ended up being used. With the names of those two sports’ players then eventually evolving into “soccers” and “ruggers”, respectively. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
On this day in 1964, the first Tim Hortons opened in Hamilton, Ontario. Originally called Tim Horton Donuts, coffee cost 25 cents and there were only two types of doughnuts available: the Dutchie and the Apple Fritter, which cost 69 cents a dozen. pic.twitter.com/TYEtqXmeKz— Craig Baird - Canadian History Ehx (@CraigBaird) May 17, 2026
