Even if my kids didn’t live there it would be worth it coming back just to get Falafel’s Drive-in and some decent Ethiopian food!

A "new standard in 'luxury'"? Is that really what the fans want when they go see the Sharks? Luxury? Or is it what the Sharks want us to want, so that they can make more money?
The Shark Tank is pretty well appointed as it is. Lots of good eateries (had Venezualan on Quakes theme afternoon in early January) and brews, plus game-specific souvenirs (I collect the warm-up pucks, especially for Sabres games). I've enjoyed NHL luxury in the past that almost certainly won't be replicated on this rebrand. Back in the 80s while in college, at the St. Louis Checkerdome (a certifiably ancient barn of a hockey rink), I had a friend who was son of a local developer, so we sat in club seats when I went with him. You had the same table all game long in the 19th century-style club buried in the bowels, so you could have dinner pregame, go to your seats, and during intermissions when you returned into the club your pre-odered items (say, shrimp cocktail and a Bud -- because St. Louis ) would be waiting for you when you arrived. Back in the 90s at the Shark Tank, the club level (for which my then law firm had seats) had buffet options of pasta or Caesar salad. The salad bar came with all-you-could-pile-on anchovies. Apparently I was not the only anchovy lover who took advantage, because that perk disappeared after a couple of years, substituted with a server doling out a couple fishes on request.
27-24-4. The San Jose Sharks concluded the current road trip with a loss at the Colorado Avalanche. Next up: the Winter Olympic break, followed by the SAP Center at San José hosting the Calgary Flames on NBC Sports California HD on Thursday, February 26th. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Totally random observation here..... Was working on "radio road" at Moscone for the Super Bowl on Wednesday. 100's of TV and radio outlets there. Was working in a booth next to a Seattle radio station who was broadcasting live through out the day from Moscone. Various former NFL players (mostly Seahawks) stopping by their booth to be interviewed. Most of which I had no idea who they were. Then this one guy shows up who looks familiar, I think to myself is that Kasey Keller? The interview went longer than it did with some of the NFL players and they seemed to be laughing and having a great time. When they were done I asked one of the radio guys "was that Kasey Keller"? He said yes. I asked why was he here. He said he's still a very popular, and well liked, guy in Seattle. That was my random gibberish.
Apparently playing with non-Hodgkins lymphoma his final year. He still looks more or less the same though.
28-24. Still without an injured Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors nonetheless won a nail-biter at the Phoenix Suns. Next up: a trip to the Los Angeles Lakers on ABC HD on Saturday. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Was going to post this yesterday but today will suffice.... On Thursday, February 5th, 1976, exactly 50 years ago , it snowed in San Jose and the SF Bay Area! Del Mari High School quad. Prospect High School San Jose Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
on another vein, The Athletic told the pretty amazing story of the Seattle Seahawks 37 year old head coach. Chose a coaching internship over KPMG…
28-25. The Golden State Warriors lost at the Los Angeles Lakers. Next up: Chase Center hosts the Memphis Grizzlies on NBC Sports Bay Area HD on Monday. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I didn’t watch it, so how was the Super Bowl? Anyone go to any of the festivities in SF or SJ? Just curious…
Very dull / bad game. Nothing exciting about QBs getting sacked repeatedly and 2-yard runs. It was like watching a boa constrictor slowly asphyxiate its prey. Death by occasional field goal. The real Super Bowl was Seattle-Rams 2 weeks ago.
Not a football fan, but even the commercials were mostly forgettable. What it was: a top tier performance by Bad Bunny and a lot of happy dancers, plus a wedding ceremony, in the middle of a football field. They could have just held the concert and dispensed with the rest. Good thing the rain held off. I understand the deluge begins tomorrow and continues for a while. Back to winter after a few weeks of spring.
Those are all interesting perspectives. No media that I read said the game was dull. But I guess you can’t publish that kind of opinion…
Just saw this on Facebook.... Not sure how true it is..... BREAKING: 49ers DETONATE a $3.8 BILLION Overhaul to Transform Levi’s Stadium — Backed by Top-Tier Investors
Really? https://www.newsday.com/sports/media/super-bowl-60-nbc-coverage-f7iz1b29 But forget about media. I think the commentary in social media is pretty strongly - "Wow that was bad / boring". I don't mind low scoring so much, but the game was never in doubt. The last 3 super bowls the Niners have been in, they lost, but I think those games pretty much came down to the last play, and there was plenty of scoring.
