It;s really insane. I think the only thing it really does for ARG, URU, and PAR is that they all get automatic berths in WC 2030. Imagine the poor teams that have to fly to South America to play 1 game and then fly back to Spain/Morocco for the next game. I just wish Gianni would get really punished for all his bad ideas.
And Morocco in 2030 is likely a concession for being the losing finalist for 2026. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! GO USA!!! -G
I just finished reading, "Game of Their Lives", about the U.S. team that upset England in the 1950 World Cup in Brazil. You might be surprised at how vastly much more difficult it was for them to fly to the tournament in South America and back to the U.S. than it will be for the 2030 participants from anywhere in the globe.
On December 11, 2024, Bill Belichick was named the 35th head football coach at the University of North Carolina.....
Yeah, funny thing is when I first saw that photo of Belichick my brain for some reason thought "Bruce Arena" .
14-10. The Golden State Warriors lost a heartbreaker at the Houston Rockets in the quarterfinal round of Emirates NBA Cup 2024. Next up: Chase Center hosts the Dallas Mavericks on NBC Sports Bay Area HD on Sunday. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
For those here and throughout the Bay Area who plan to watch the San Francisco 49ers play against the visiting Los Angeles Rams today: 4:00pm-5:00pm = Pregame show (only on Prime Video) 5:00pm-8:00pm = Game (on Prime Video, simulcast on KTVU Channel 2) 8:00pm-9:00pm = Postgame show (only on Prime Video) In Los Angeles, it’ll be the same except for whichever local channel the game will be simulcasted over there. For everywhere else in the country, the entire thing will only be on Prime Video. I hope that helped. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
It's funny - the whole "LA/Bay Area" rivalry seems so tame compared to the rivalries in the NFC North - particularly the Bears/Packers rivalry that predates the arrival of any pro sports in California by several decades.
11-16-5. Macklin Celebrini’s two goals and one assist helped lead the San Jose Sharks to win at the St. Louis Blues. Next up: the SAP Center at San José hosts the Utah Hockey Club on NBC Sports California HD on Saturday. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
6-8-0. Next up: a visit to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, December 22nd. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Man, that was pathetic by the Niners. They played the whole game trying not to lose. It was like watching the Quakes under Luchi Gonzalez, 2nd half of 2023, trying to eek out a "golden tie". They were just begging the Rams to beat them. And they did. Too many 1-yard runs and then hopeless long passes and not enough medium passes (which were working more often than not). I wonder if the Niners are starting to think about moving on from Shanahan. Also, Deebo Samuel is pretty useless at this point. May have cost them the game with that drop over the middle that probably would have put the Niners in the red zone. And the guy just cannot break a tackle any more. He goes down pretty easily at 1st contact, unlikes say Jordan Mason and McCaffrey. What the heck happened to him?
“NASL Seeking Half A Billion Dollars From MLS And U.S. Soccer At Trial” (Forbes.com - Wednesday, 12/11/24) Photo by Andy Mead/YCJ/Icon Sportswire via Getty (ICON SPORTSWIRE VIA GETTY IMAGES) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I haven't followed the case, so can only opine based on the Forbes article itself. I suspect the NASL allegations of illegal anticompetitive behavior are true, but they may not be able to prove it to the factfinder's satisfaction at trial. Would love to see Garber under cross-examination, though.
I think he’s trying but he’s not the same player he was a few years ago when he’s just bounce off tacklers. He goes down at the first contact. I’ve been disappointed in him since last year. Maybe his injury just took the explosiveness out of him.
Well, back then wasn’t travel tough for all competitors? The thing is for 2030, only the 6 teams playing in those single games in South America and their fans will be adversely impacted relative to the other 30-something teams (or is it 40 something?).
There were a total of 8 teams and as many owners in the NASL2 final season of 2017. If they win this lawsuit, who will be getting this money and also, how much could it possibly be after taxes, legal fees divided up 8 ways?
I still chen't get over Bill Belichick being named the 35th head football coach at the University of North Carolina..... Will Belichick be at the Tar Heels 2024 Fenway Bowl game against UConn on December 28th?
Maybe his 24-year old girlfriend needs to finish up her senior year there? He might get invited to the prom!
