With expansion San Diego FC starting play in 2025, MLS will have 30 teams, the same amount of teams that both MLB and the NBA each have, and only two less teams than both the NFL and the NHL each have. Apparently not everyone has kept up with that news, though. Case in point: a friend just told me of a recent conversation he had with one of his older middle aged co-workers in which they discussed MLS and soccer in general. The co-worker eventually asked him how many teams MLS has, to which my friend replied that there are currently 29 teams with the 30th coming next season. The co-worker apparently almost fell out of his seat in shock. When asked why he was so shocked, the co-worker responded that any U.S. pro soccer league “would only have six teams… maybe eight teams… tops!” GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G

With another team in the west, the Quakes should play each western division club a home and away series or 28 games. Unless MLS lengthens the schedule and season, that only leaves 6 more games to play eastern division clubs. San Jose Earthquakes Los Angeles FC LA Galaxy Real Salt Lake Seattle Sounders FC Houston Dynamo FC Minnesota United FC Colorado Rapids Vancouver Whitecaps FC Portland Timbers Austin FC FC Dallas St. Louis City SC Sporting Kansas City San Diego FC I don’t think the Quakes will ever get to play against Messi.
I wouldn't be surprised if at some point West only Plays West and East only plays East, brings travel down, rests bodies, no 3 hour time differences and then East meets West in the MLS Cup. Especially with 15 teams in the west now, thats more then when MLS started and they figured it out before with only 10.
A regional MLS seems like the wave of the futre. It actually makes sense with travel fatigue ,costs and scheduling. A three game road trip for example for the Quakes can be , the Caps, Sounders and Timbers up north , San Diego LA Gals & LAFC down south. That is 6 games right there in a 2-3-4 week span.
But what would the team breakdown be if my friend’s co-worker had been correct? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
If that were the case, it would have been MLS as it was during the 1996 -2004 seasons when there were only 10-12 teams.
But wasn’t even that more teams than that co-worker stated that a U.S. pro soccer league would/could ever have? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
The most brutal thing is that they unloaded the Brinks truck for Aiyuk and now he’s done for the year. And he may never be the same player. I think I heard it’s both ACL and MCL.

For as long as I remember, it is very difficult to educate the lifelong , ignorant (Mark Purdy reading) soccer haters.
Saw this on Facebook.... Wow! BREAKING LAS VEGAS The worlds largests In-N-OUT Burger is currently under construction in the spot previously held by the Hawaiin Market. This location will be a whopping 10,000 sq ft, including over 2000 sq ft of outdoor dining with an epic view.
What’s so great about that In-N-Out? It’s an oxymoron, because it is nigh impossible to get in and out of it.
