On doctor's advice I've renegged on my decision and have been reffing HS (JV) and lower-division club games. I finally got my symptoms under control (thank you prednisone and mestinon!) and have been symptom-free for about two months. My PCP urged me to start reffing again because it keeps me active and gives me joy, so I have. If I have a flare, I can always quit again, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

BTW - I'll be in the Bay Area last two weeks in November. Too bad the chances are very slim that the Quakes will still be playing by that time...

Why is this news? (And I don’t just mean, here on BS).
BTW, i just recently watched the short Miriam Margolyes series on Netflix, “Almost Australian”. It’s entertaining and informative.

    2-0-0. :)

The San Francisco 49ers remained undefeated with a win at the archrival Los Angeles Rams. :D

Next up: the Home Opener against the New York Giants on Thursday, September 21st.

A few chinks in the Brock Purdy armor in this game. He overthrew 3 open receivers by quite a bit on prospective TD long balls and his QB rating below 100 for the first time. But he did enough to get the job done.

The Rams are already pretty tough but are going to be a real problem when Kooper Kupp comes back and plays alongside that rookie who catches a million passes.

How ironic, the Pac 12 football has three teams in the top 10 and 8 teams in the top 25 of the AP rankings, yet the conference imploded with teams breaking for "greener" pastures.

This is part of why I didn’t see the Quakes game on Saturday.

He was maybe 25 or 30 feet away from us. His little herd parked themselves next to our campsite.

As it should be, he's a locker room cancer. What owner in his right mind would hire a troublemaker and agitator?

This is the "Random Jibberish" thread, not the news thread. It's a dumping ground for Goodsport's fetishes and other strange interests.:)

A bit off topic, went to the Oakland A's vs Mariners game last night (nephew a Mariners fan was visiting us).

I've seen the news coverage but actually attending a game it was more depressing than I thought. Announced attendance (according to the MLB site) was under 5,000 (and even that seemed inflated.) Seemed to be just a many Mariners fans as A's fans. Vibe at the stadium is near zero.

I think tickets for upper level (General Admission) are $10. We were on 2nd level. A total of 4 people sitting in our entire section (Section 209). Funny they still have ushers checking your tickets. Some general admission folks tried to sit in our section and were asked to leave.

How does Fisher sleep at night?

(Probably quite well since he's really really rich).

There is no "off topic" in Random Jibberish". It's the one time we can post anything and not get yelled at. :)

Not really a surprise. The situation in Oakland is beyond toxic, after the whole "Rooted In Oakland" campaign and then they proceed to turn their backs on the city and head to LV. Not to mention, the team is very bad. I don't think there's any chance they'd play another year in Oakland. It'd be miserable for everybody. If you're gonna leave, just leave. It's like if your spouse announced that they're seeking a divorce but won't move out and expects everything to be just fine.
