four of my five teams won in the past 24 hours! A's, 49ers, Manchester United and the Quakes...that's rare and a damn good sporting weekend by any measure. checked on my fifth team (Sharks of course), NHL preseason starts in a week... ...disappointing news about Kane... San Jose Sharks' Evander Kane says he thinks he'll be cleared by NHL (espn.com) ...serious gambling problem, apparently. My biggest frustration with Kane came during the 2016 season when the Sharks made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals where they faced off against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins, ultimately losing in 6. I never understood why Kane was a complete no-show for that series and the three previous series leading up to it (LA, Nashville & St Louis), not sure if he even registered an assist over all those series, I know he failed to score. Never got a clear answer on his drop off, was he playing hurt, etc? Way too soon to say it was an intentional let off on his part but these allegations raise the specter of intentionality, tied to betting.
