I assume that this change was adopted in April when the NCAA changed the rules so that athletic departments can’t participate in a recruit’s unofficial visit until Sept. 1 of the recruit’s junior year in high school and the recruiting discussions during a school’s camp or clinic can’t happen before Sept. 1 of a prospective recruit's junior year? I believe that the other change was that official visits can now begin Sept. 1 of a prospect’s junior year in high school instead of the first day of classes for senior year. To be honest, I haven't kept up with the recruiting rule changes since my kids, except for a daughter in her last year of soccer eligibility, are done with collegiate sports, but this all just seems like window dressing by the NCAA. I'm really not sure what the benefits are going to be.
