Funny story from MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31256584/ns/health-kids_and_parenting/ My apologies, but I really don't have any profound comments to add to the link. I just thought that those who frequent this forum would get a (metaphorical) kick out of it.
My three year old routinely kicks me when he joins us in bed in the morning. Not sure if it's on purpose or not. This morning I went and slept in his bed when he kicked me in the back at 4:30 AM.
My oldest had a biting problem many years ago. I resolved the issue unconsciously, when I knocked him across the room after he walked over and bit my thigh unexpectedly while I was sitting at the kitchen table. Previously he had bitten both my wife and me, but we were uneffective in convincing him it was wrong. My unexpected yelp and push across the room - though unintended did the trick. I forget his response - other than startled or crying, but the incident must have been sufficiently memorable.
My daughter kicked me in the face the other day. I reached over and gave her a pretty solid spank. Last night, as I was putting her to bed, she asked why I spanked her bottom. I told her it was because she kicked me. She said "I won't do that again, I promise." Hopefully, it's the only time I have to spank her.
