The slide show is pretty weak too(I especially like the slide of with the fireworks), but hey I'm still excited about Public funding for a SSS in the states. It kicks a$$ to be able to say that finally!
Thank you assorted taxpayers of Frisco and whereever else public money is coming you. You've just made me richer. Sincerely, Lamar Hunt.
I think it's awesome and can't wait for the groundbreaking ceremony to really seal the deal. Another step towards global MLS domination!
Personally, I don't like the use of public funds for any stadium unless it's put to a vote of the people whose tax dollars are being used.
I see this stadium will also be used by high school football teams? Oh well, I guess you have to give up some concessions in order to get 55 million in public money. I just hope we don't have to look at damn hash markings and yardlines. Also, doesn't 20,000 seem a tab bit small to anyone? I would think 25,000 would be a lot better of a mark to shoot for. Just my thoughts. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be negative. I'm glad that there is one more SSS finally passed thru the red tape and ready for a ground breaking. I just hope Lamar doesn't forget to keep upgrading our stadium thru the years as well.
Nice job Hunt Group et all.... Brilliant project - Great for North Texas, MLS, and soccer all over the U.S. Brilliant! Many thanks to Collin County, Frisco, School Board Dallas Burn and Hunt Group So, a few hundred thousand kids can play soccer now WOW! (Thanks organizers for being smart enough to give us 'budget' pix, so the real money can be invested in the stadium)
Nice observation, but a few points must be made in response. First, the only non-private funding is coming from the Vision Iowa Fund. This is not general tax dollar money. Rather the money from Vision Iowa comes from gambling revenues. Secondly these funds will get spent. So rather than see it spent on something I consider less worthwhile, I'd rather see these gambling revenues put to use on something I support. Also you missed part of my statement. "unless it's put to a vote of the people whose tax dollars are being used." I'd be more than willing to put this stadium to a vote if it needed tax dollars. Surveys have been taken showing support for use of public funds. If it got shot down, so be it. Krauss would have to find another way to get the money. People should have as much a voice as possible in deciding where their tax dollars should go. BTW... The stadium is coming along fine.
Proof that soccer's come a far way in this country since 1996. And wouldn't those fields kick ass for a tailgate pickup game? And this is now LA, Rochester and Dallas all with grass hills on one side of their stadium?
Dear Uncle Lamar, Since you're getting $20 million from me and my fellow Collin County taxpayers, let me just submit one request: This stadium had better be better than the one in Columbus. Sincerely, Dustin
They're building a set of bleachers to hold 600 people next to one of the auxiliary fields. According to what I heard at the school board meeting tonight, that'll be used for the HS soccer games and the JV football games. Only the varsity football teams will be using the big stadium. And since Frisco will only have two high schools by the time the stadium opens, wear and tear on the field won't be too bad. Indeed. But Frisco ISD was going to be building a new stadium anyway, and had $17.5 million approved for it in a bond package in 2000. Now, they're getting to use a better stadium for free for $2.5 million less. Probably only for the last month or so for the MLS season. And I would imagine that while the Burn are still playing, the football markings would be a bit basic.
Personally, I think it's about the only thing government OUGHT to do. Stop wasting money on useless crapola, fire the bureaucrats, and sink every last dime into soccer venues. Who the fukk is this idiot, anyway?
Last time I saw a picture like that I saw an American missle hit it. Can ya make it any farther up? Or are details just that much of a nuisance?
This "idiot" is a major supporter of soccer on many levels, including USNTs, MLS, and PDL, while at the same time, this "idiot" also is a libertarian, thus has a grasp on the concept of what government should do and therefore recognizes that government should operate in accordance with the will of the majority of the people it represents while also considering the minority viewpoint.
SnakeEyes in a perfect America NON-DIRECT tax money wouldn't even be used when put to a vote of the people, nor should it. Because government has only one role in society; to punish those who would break the domestic and foreign peace. The tax money would go there. Unfortunately we live in an America with the one party system of the Democrats and Republicans who steal your money through direct taxation and give it out to people who can further their political position and as appeasment to voters. So MLS might as well get theirs, while they can get it.
