Now for my penance (and you can all thank Father Ted for preparing me my humble pie).

SAF outmanaged Wenger on Saturday, and has done so many times since Wenger has been with Arsenal. Ferguson didn't panic at any time, while Wenger completely changed his team's style of play by going with three strikers, something Arsenal hasn't done all year. SAF won the battle, hands down.

OK, day one of my penance is done.

    And this is PAINFUL!

Whoever told me "Don't bet with a priest", I should have taken your advice.

LOL... total class, CmcG. Now have a smile, because in the words of Roy Keane, "I'd be smiling too if I were twelve points clear."

I'm actually considering starting to drink heavily now, and just continuing it on until next Sunday when this is over.

    Coach -

I have always thought your posts are reasonable and well thought out, albeit from a Gunner's perspective. I wish I could say the same about all of your colleagues. And now you hold true to your word by starting this thread and changing your sig (still looking for that new avitar, though). For an Arsenal supporter, you're not a bad guy. And that's about the highest praise that I can give a Gunner. ;)

With respect to this thread, I really do think that Arsene was outmanaged by Alex. Why in the world would Wenger choose to rest Henry yesterday instead of the previous week, when the EPL title is all but wrapped up? I think that Wenger thought that he could repeat what he did two years ago at OT - win without playing Henry. It backfired, and when he put in three forwards, in only meant that none of them got any service.

Oh, by the way - I'm the one who advised you that betting a priest was a bad idea. Thanks for not listening to me. :)

You're certainly a good sport, Coach. With the amount of questions you'll likely get about your sig, avatar, etc. this week, this is like the BigSoccer version of the Scarlet Letter.

Well, I prepped the guys in the Arsenal forum about the sig, so they haven't really made too much fuss about it.

Wenger got out-managed, no two ways about it. This post was pretty easy to write. Now when you diabolical fiends convince Father Ted to force me to write that RvN is better than Henry, I'm going to choke on the words as they come out.

That was the chance I took, though.

Actually, I think that next season's matches against ManU are going to be cranked up another notch, even, so this is actually quite good for the Prem.

As far as any posters on the Arsenal forum: they're great guys, but a few wear blinders, just like some fans of any club. Thanks to you guys for not making this any harder than it has to be.

Hey Coach - good post - keep on like that and you'll soon see the error of your ways and start to support United ;)

Can we do requests on here? I'd like to see a post from you this week detailing how having Dein as the Vice-Chairman of the FA ensures that Arsenal get favours from the FA (you know - "fiddling" the Rio suspension duration etc - you'd do a fine job!)

All thread topics must be approved by Father Ted, so you'll have to run that by him, but why, Prawn, after all the time we've spent mending fences between the ManU board and the Arsenal board would you make me fall on my sword like that??? ;)

The goal against Munich aside.....this is just crazy talk....and yes, I mean that even when comparing him to the current soon to be 35 year old Bergkamp. ;)

    Father Ted -

You're my new hero for having the guts to make this bet when there weren't too many people picking United. Reading these posts puts a smile on my face and makes the victory even more enjoyable. Looking forward to a new thread every day. :)

Geez, jegerpenge, I got enough trouble with Prawn coming up with topics to make me retch, and here you go handing out the ammunition for my execution! ;)

And, Soccerholic, you damn well better be smiling, because as much pain as this will be once it's over, somebody should be enjoying themselves, if for no other reason than to keep the "balance in the Force".

Soccerholic, I just looked at your location, and do I have it in for you. I might have to be nice about ManU, but I certainly didn't sign up to not give the Avs all the grief they can handle.

Your Avs are going down in 5, buddy.

phishy, we got another Denver resident here. Give him a little hell, eh?

I hate to disappoint you here, Coach, but I grew up in Michigan. I am a die hard Red Wings fan and despise the Avs. Nothing would make me happier than to see the Stars (led by Michigan boys Modano and Turco) destroy the Avs.

    DAMN!

You've got an answer for everything.....

    This SUCKS!!

And this is absolutely killing my reputation as a firestarter on these boards!!!

    And, Deuteriumoxide, no photos, please.

    ;)

PS - Turks is a Canadian boy. He just played his college hocky in Michigan. And, now that I've got your attention, thanks an F-ing lot for snaring our other Michigan boy! It's not like we need him, or anything. F-ing Wings, snatching up Stars free-agents.

    Turco et al

Yeah, I'm aware that Turco is from Canada, just across the Sault Locks from Michigan. But after 4 years of leading my school (UM) to 4 Frozen Fours and 2 National Championships, and setting the NCAA record for all time wins, he is clearly a Michigan boy. And Hatcher, well, who can blame him for wanting to come home again. :)

Tell you what. The Wings will take all the players who had Michigan connections before they turned pro, and the Stars can have all the Texans. ;)
