ClearChannel sorts it out for you Have to admit, as someone who has never booked a concert I found this fascinating. $100,000 for Huey Lewis? Who knew?
Interesting list. Let's say someone gave you a $100K credit to book band(s). How would you spend your money? You could, for example, blow the whole wad on Leann Rimes, or, you could book a bunch of less expensive bands and have your own all day rock fest. I think I'd go with: Ween $20k Sonic Youth $20k Dropkick Murphys $15k Ice T $10k (only if he plays a half and half show with a rap set and a Body Count set) Fishbone $7.5k Biz Markie $5k BR5-49 $5k Built to Spill $5k The Supersuckers $5k (The list said "Call for Pricing", but based on others listed I'm guessing this is about where they fit in) Black 47 $3.5k Luna $2.5k Freedy Johnston $2k That actually comes out to $100,500 but I'm sure we could come up with the other $500 somewhere.
Who cares if it's what they get or not? It still is fun to play Fantasy Booking Agent.... Wilco $25,000 Mr. Show $15,000 Doves $15,000 Spiritualized $10,000 Bob Mould $7,500 Flaming Lips $7,500 Beta Band $5,000 Dave Attell $5,000 Stereophonics $5,000 Moldy Peaches $3,000 Freedy Johnston $2,000 Total: $100,000 exactly!
Ahahahah P Diddy for 125$!!! And ANYONE asking more than James Brown's 50k is full of sh!t. And Shania Twain is the most expensive: $300,000!!!!!! Are you NUTS?
Social Distortion for 25k? If I won the lottery I'd pay them to spend a month at my house~ Whoopi Goldberg for 100k+. Hahaha.
99,500 Ben Kwellar - $2,500 Lucky Boys Confusion - $3,000 Emo Phillips - $3,000 Flogging Molly - $3,000 H20 - $3,000 Dave Attell - $5,000 Brian Regan - $10,000 Less Than Jake - ~$15,000 Dropkick Murphys - $15,000 Steven Wright - $15,000 Everclear - $25,000 TOTAL - $99,500
Tool use so much weird ************ in their stage shows that probably about half of that is to just recoup costs, though.
Andrew WK- 15k Ben Folds- 20K Ben Kweller- 2K Cake- 30k Less Than Jake- 10K Phantom Planet- 10K Violent Femmes- 25K I'm only 12K over. I dont want to give anybody else up.
Wow...prices that bands ask from promoters used to be totally top secret and closely guarded...I'll bet many of those acts have no idea their asking price is available on the net... Don't forget, in most cases those prices are BEFORE production costs (PA, basic lighting, etc...) and rider costs. The reason why acts like Huey Lewis and his like are so expensive is that there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that they'd book a proper tour, so those high costs allow them to play one-off's or weekends at places that can afford them like casinos and corporate functions. I don't recall if he's on the list or not, but David Johanson still gets that kind of massive dough for going out on weekends as Buster Poindexter to sing "Hot Hot Hot" for yuppies, geezers, and corporate get-togethers. I think I'd drop $47.5K for Travis, Stereophonics, Biz Markie, Dave Attell & Ben Kweller, and spend the rest on beers for us.
I could put together a good Celtic Rock show for only $21.5K Black 47 3.5K Dropkick Murphys 15K Flogging Molly 3K
There is a great Celtic show coming to my town this weekend. Six time all-Ireland fiddle champ Martin Hayes www.martinhayes.com
Hee! For just $5,000, you can enjoy, live, in the privacy of your own college campus, the vocal stylings of... Vanilla Ice. Let's see. If I had $100,000... Black 47 - 3.5k Fastball - 7.5k George Clinton - 35k Goldfinger - 20k Run DMC - 15k Spacehog - 5k Tracy Morgan - 14k And that should make it add up right. I think. I will pay the requisite $30,000 to make sure Carrot Top does NOT come to my concert.
