I don't get a chance to watch the games but what I have been reading doesn't sound too good. Do they miss Pierre van Hooijdonk this much or are they really not playing very well? Or is it both?

I don't think they have a forward to backup PvH and Lurling can't replace Tomasson.

They should have bought Clint Mathis.

Don't be surprised if they buy Dirk Kuyt from Utrecht.

That would make sense. FC U needs to sell and Kuyt wants to move.

I think they really miss PVH, the team seems to lack confidence and direction without him. Certainly the loss of John Dahl didn't make them any stronger.

Any word on Tim Howard's training there?

Howard is going home, but Feyenoord will monitor his situation.

How is the Korean midfielder Song playing? I really haven't read about him doing anything good, and I'm just wondering if they wasted their money on him.

I think Song was Man of the Match in the match yesterday.

Korean guy Song is apparently a regular starter - I think on the right side of midfield -for the team. So, he must be making an impression on Bert.

I bet you Guus really wants him in Eindhoven !

. I think they missed Bosvelt more last night than they did van Hooijdonk.

. Tomasson is and will always be overrated, Feyenoord should be glad they were able to sell him.

. Song was great in his 1st match, hasn't really showed much else besides him being able to run fast afterwards though.

They need to sign Tim Howard as their goalkeeper. Then all their problems will be solved.

Bosvelt is definitely missed. I guess van Gastel never recovered to suit Feyernoord's needs. Next target for Feyenoord...Timmy Simons from Club Brugge and Maurice Buys from Volendam.

Of course Timmy Howard is high on the list.

Feyenoord's offense is too reliant on van Hooijdonk. That means that even if the rest of the team is playing decently, vHooijdonk is still relied upon to produce over half of the goals, and even that mostly from set shots.

Although as a Korean I am biased, I would suggest going for Park Ji Sung, who is a calm, a fierce competitor, and does not spoil many chances where he should finish. But I suspect he may lean to PSV, because of his close tie to Guus, when the January transfer window opens.

I guess we'll all (in the US, anyway) get a chance to assess them for ourselves. According to SoccerTV.com, the Juve-Feyenoord game will be espn2's Champs League selection next Tuesday.

It sounded like they didn't miss PVH today, but we will get to see on Tuesday, if they are really going to advance in the Champions League and how good they are without him.
