So what's wrong with Benfica fans this year?! Why can't they just sit in the stands like everyone else?! 3 words: pre-season-friendly!!! Lighten up people!! It sure looks like they're getting a bit too nervous out there... but hey I know I would be nervous too if I had the worst coach of Euro 2004 and a team of either: -old farts having their last gasp in football or -young no name kids who dream of playing in a winning team and not in that "disaster waiting-to-happen-team" that's Benfica.
Before you post a bunch of crap, you should get your facts straight. The "fans" that beat the crap out of those security guards were not only Benfica fans but Sporting and Porto as well. And the first guy that came in to defend the fan that was getting beaten had a PORTO shirt on his back, not a Benfica one. So get your facts straight before you accuse us of all sorts of crap. Shouldn't you be complaining about the Olympic team taking so many players from Porto or something.
What about the second invasion? The game against Marseille? A Benfica fan jumped in and started provoquing Marseille fans from the PITCH!?.... Too bad there were no Porto shirts there to bail him out that time lol... the guy got his assed kicked by the frenchies lol And I would never complaint about the Olympic team taking so many of our players... I want our NT to do good, so... you need the best.
The fans from both teams were provoking one another during the game and only one Benfica fan (and he doesn't represent all 6 million + fans) ran onto the field provoking even more (which was a dumb move, no need for that in any sport), while a number of Marseille fans came on to the field to fight that guy (this is what I read, heard, and saw in highlights). So fans from both sides were involved, and Portuguese fans were involved in the incidents of the first game, including porto fans.
I believe the guy the starter the fight was a Porto fan I'm going to the Porto vs Galatasary, so I have to be responsible for my behavior, that day I'm going to be pulling for Porto, just don't get on my way
Alcohol and soccer dont match ,bottom line, lets not start with this crap,This is a Portugl forum and us proud Portuguese should be sticking together, regardless of our club. I wont even answer the silly comments you made in regard to TRAPATONI or the Benfica players. PEACE.....
porto isnt a good team and i no for sure that benfica will win the portugal cup and the league cause porto isnt really that good there gettin to cocky we will just see whos gonna be the champs and thats gonna be BENFICA
I agree we all portuguese, and we support each other when we play the monsters of europe, what comments about Trapatoni? you sure was me?
hey now. alcohol and everything match, its just that you have to have a good eastern european tolerance to it. also, i hardly think that u can judge all fans based on the actions of a few drunkards. in my opinion ur opinion is based off of unfair and unjustified generalizations that need to seek other places to take root, especially not here. dont insult our fandom and expect us to be nice to you... we take pride in our loyalties, i am sure you do to. coming in here with baseless generalizations is both unfair and insulting.
All right, all right!! GeeshH! I was just having a bit of fun at the expense of my rivals... but if you're all going to get all patriotic, it kind of ruins the fun! I'm honestly hoping Benfica can join Porto in the CL and hopefully kick some ass. I wont take back the comment about Trapatonni though... sorry, but I do think he was the worst coach in Euro 2004. Come on, think about it... Italy was a disgrace! And with all those good players.... Anyway... peace to u 2
Well, one thing's for sure... He'll make Benfica's defense a lot more solid and thats something Benfica needed.
Trapatonni didn't do a bad job. Italy earned 5 points and tied for 1st, but lost out on goals scored. Some teams passed into the quarter-finals with only 4 points. Trapatonni's achievements speak for themselves. Not many coaches have won what he has won.
