He is still trying to convince the directivos to let him stay in Guadalajara, but he is half way in the door to CDCUSA

Well. According to the interview he gave after the loss against Real Madrid, he said that once he arrives to Guadalajara, he will talk it over with his family and see what happens. The thing is.....he ain't no spring chicken. He is already 32. He is past the age peak. I doubt a European team is going to after him. He probably wants to close his career with a possible championship with Chivas and not save a season for CDChUSA. But. He has only two choices, retire or go to CDChUSA. Guadalajara wants his space for another player. From two different news sources that I have read, it's a done deal: Palencia to ChivasUSA.

    Doubt it...

but seriously though...I want him to come because he is a respected class player from MFL and if he comes to MLS and says that MLS isn't as easy of a league as EVERYONE else claims it to be than that would be good for US Soccer and the Youth Soccer Players coming up...

but I mostly want him to come so we can start scoring goals and getting better chances at winning games -- this shite is getting tired....

I agree. If he doesn't want ot be here I frankly don't want him here. Lets bring someone who wants the opportunity. Even if he agrees to come for how long ? Will he just "bitch" up and leave? Its happened twice already by others.

The time has come to get the best possible player regardless of ethnicity. This year is almost dead already lets not make some of the same mistakes next season.

"La Opinion" from LA said its official, and La opinion is normally well informed regarding futbol, aparently he will start August 22, against the MetroStars, his reticience was due to big chivas playing at copa Libertadores, and a couple of friendlies (the Real Madrid game), he will be presented officially this week I believe, "loquito" is already on board following Mexico's exit from Gold cup,and may play next week.

I believe part of the problem was due to the amount of money MLS pay, so some form of arrangement was done by Vergara.

The situation is probably going to hurt Palencia, but it will surely be a gift for the CDCUSA.

I think the only way this could hurt him would be in consideration for the WC roster but then again, he hasn't been in the mix since LaVolpe came in.

As for losing a step...that's crazy....Westerhof is DT and a good one at that...technically and tactically he will be as sharp as he was in the MFL. As for playing against quality opponents (because I know that's where you're headed with this) I think Palencia is just what MLS needs to prove that American Soccer, specifically MLS, has come a LONG way. Real Madrid vs CDG 3-1 and Real Madrid vs LAG 2-0. MLS isn't that far off man....give them some credit. I hated MLS for the longest time because the quality sucked azz like no other and couldn't believe this was professional soccer was in the USA. Since Chivas USA came in I've re-assessed the performances to find that yes, there are still a LOT of teams that suck azz (Chivas USA included as of now) but with the additions of the reinforcements we should rebound quite nicely. He will not lose anything that age will take away first. ;)

El Loquito either....if anything these players will grow in confidence in their abilitites while upping the level of soccer in the USA...it's a win/win situation for everyone in general.

MLS is definitely going up a few notches with the aquisition of El Loquito and Palencia. I am so happy to have some GOOD Mexican talent on board in the USA. It is an honor to have them playing in the USA, really it is!

Well said. It's moves like these that will help MLS get stronger and that's why Chivas is good for MLS for as much as people hate Chivas. Palencia and Garcia never would have come here otherwise and it's nice to have someone who has been a force in a top league for the past 8 years and someone how just got his first cap for Mexico part of MLS.
