You guys did a pretty good job of explaining the whole JLG saga...could somebody inform me on what happened after WC 2002 that merited a boycott?

I never check this forum but like once every couple of weeks.

After the world cup game between the US and Mexico ended the Mexico forum was invaded by a crap load of racist US fans. The mods back then did nothing and the admin did nothing as well. So time after the world cup ended the site crashed or was hacked can't remember which it was. Anyways during the down time the majority of the posters left bigsoccer because of what happened after the world cup game.

The Mexie Boycott is much deeper than that Sids's weak sauce explanation.. It actually involved TYC sports, Copa MercoNorte, Oscar Ruggeri, 9/11, MetroStars, and Mods getting Ousted.

It all started when TYC sports announced that they would no longer fund the Copa Merconorte, and the edition being played would be the last. At that time Chivas had an away game to the Metros, and Ruggeri gave a press conference saying that Chivas was forfeiting the match due to unsafe travel issues having to do with the tragic events of September 11.

This statement angered the Metro fans who started talking smack about Mexicans. Many of the BS Mex regulars got on the debate, at first it was civil but it quickly got out of hand specially with some of the Metro mods doing the flaming.

The end result was the Metro mods receiving a slap in the wrist while many Mexie posters were carded. Soon after all of the Mexico mods were ousted, for different reasons, I remember Evil got the boot for posting a nipple, lol.

By the time WC02 rolled around there were no Mexican mods in the Mexico forum. Instead we had Sid's good friend Efernandez and a rotating cast of substitute mods including a yank and a salvadorian.

Anyways, after Mexico lost to the U.S in Japorea many yanks began trolling the Mexico forum, it was quite brutal, but what tipped the scales was that some Mods got in on the fun and they were allowed to get away with it, having only to offer a half ass apology, they claimed to drunken posting.

This was seen as unfair treatment by the Mex regulars, specially the guys that had been there since the beginning, including yours truly. What we did not like was that every time we had a smack down the punishment handed by the administrators would be uneven.

Mexico mods has been booted for much less while U.S mods were being allowed to troll. So, we decided to set up shop elsewhere and as luck would have it, we were invited to a brand new forum so we all left..

The BS admin's managed to straighten things out and then everything came back to normal and we returned to Big Soccer. In that short time the fate of the Mexico board was at the hands of one Toot86, had he remained who knows what the forums would be like now!!

So what does it take to be a mod? do you guys get paid?
So all the guys that left in the Mexie boycott came back, upon the assigning of new, Mexican mods?
