MLS XI - Real Madrid would sell out any stadium in this country.

It highly likely that it's gonna be Real Madrid on July 31st postponing the original all star date by one week however it will still be televised by ABC.

Real Madrid is HUGE for MLS with or without Beckham. A leap from last year with those Mexican Billy-goats. This is a match worth every dollar of the admission price just to see Zidane (who was recently named the top player of the last 50 years in Europe).
Naturally, for marketing purposes Freddie will make the squad, but beyond that, it will be wonderful to watch.
    Where will it be played?

the article on USsoccerUK says Gilette in Foxboro, i believe.

edit: correction: the article actually states Foxboro Stadium, but i believe they meant Gilette

Well there is the problem there. any jackass who named Zidane the greatest footballer in Europe in the last 50 years is has to be either French or on Crack!!! YOu have about 3 or 4 guys who could easily be better than him. Stotichkov, Matheaus, Boban, Klinsman. Now Zidane is good, but not the best in 50 years, no way in hell.

Will definitely be rooting for Real to finish in the top 2 so they don't have to play qualifying matches for the Champions League.

If you think these guys are better than Zidane, then you must be on crack, my friend. Anyways, I think it was a poll, not a person that decided it, so apparently, more than just one crack head voted.

It also toke away from his argument that he didn't mention Cruyff. Definetly has a fringe opinion.

    YEAH!!!! My first post!!! :)
I think you all are missing the point. THe MLS doesn't care about Zidane. All they want is Beckham because he is the only European player that the average American has heard of.

It would be awesome if Real's a$$ got kicked if they play here. It probably still wouldn't shut those Euro-yuppies up.

Next question: will they sell Beckham to Chelsea before or after these games?

Chelsea is also playing in the US this summer, so either way Beckham fans should get to see him.

I think the Real games are going to be bigger than the Champions World Series. I think Rose Bowl may sell out, and Gillette Stadium will be sold out for sure.

FYI for NYC area people, the Allstar game is the same date as the Man U game vs Milan at giants stadium.
