unofficially from some CBC guys, it was over 200k for Fire game. So, way more than a typical Raptors game; and more than half less than a CFL game. Within context of Score programming, it's an a great number and would be consdered pretty good for Sportsnet and good for TSN.

all in all good considering TFC doesn't have much reach beyond TO yet -other than curious footie fans, CBC should be happy.

200K is an amazing number espcially for an un established team.

    Thanks for the estimate!
An expansion team and five games in; 200k is very impressive.
I hope that the Toronto media takes notice of such interest in TFC and the MLS. I must say that I was dissapointed in Metro - the free newspaper's coverage limited to a little headline on top of the sports section directing the reader to a website.
Perhaps word of mouth will be faster than the media.

Yeah, this is very good news for CBC, who have lost the rights for CFL next season to TSN. It also does the job of building a fan base of soccer viewers, which will benefit down the road in the form of FIFA World Cup, whose Canadian rights have been bought by CBC.

And on the other hand, this is also very good news for Toronto FC and soccer in this country. If Canadians from all across the land can see the quality of play and the passion in the stadium, they would most defintely begin to think highly of soccer and the campaign for more MLS teams in cities such as Montreal and Vancouver will get some more steam.

Although I didn't see the CBC coverage, but from what heard that their color guys are doing a much much better job soccer then the three morons on ESPN-2 and FOX soccer channel in state side. I am happy for you guys.Is there any official link to the 200k plus for CBC?.Here in NY we have the RB which plays in front of 75k empty red seats every home game at Giant Stadium.May be one day we will have all Canadians MLS teams.

    Game #4 - Home Opener v. KC - 188,000

    Game #5 - TFC v Chicago - 128,000

Those numbers aren't too bad. These are Canadian ratings for CBC. They are higher than what an early season Raptors game would have received.

You beat me to it. Just received those numbers. Rather a large drop off of about 1/3rd from the first to second CBC telecasts which is unfortunate especially as the Chicago victory is a match that hundreds of thousands will one day claim to have seen.

    Game 3: vs. KC: 21,000

    http://www.thestar.com/article/207933

    Game 6: vs. Houston - 32,000

    http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/215304

    Overall:
Game 1: vs. Chivas USA - 110,000 or 115,000 (Sportsnet)
Game 2: vs. NE - 15,000 (The Score)
Game 3: vs. KC - 21,000 (The Score)
    Game 4: vs. KC - 188,000 (CBC)
    Game 5: vs. Chicago - 128,000 (CBC)
Game 6: vs. Houston - 32,000 (The Score)

At least The Score's ratings are improving.

Compare apples to apples. What do the EPL games draw on Sportnet?

    15K isn't good.

a good ratings test comes tomorrow. Since the NHL moved the opener of the finals to monday, there's no hockey on saturday. Subsequently, CBC moved the tape delay TFC game, originally set for 10pm, to 7:30pm LIVE. This is a great timeslot for any sport on a national network. I'll be curious to see what they get. My guess is 320K.

Yeah but those are games on CBC, while Raptors games are usually on the Score. Either way I heard CBC is going to pick up Raptors games for next season to push with the CBC sports movement.

Nooooooo!!! For the love of God, Noooo!!

As a Raptors fan, and after watching what they did to the DC game, I really don't want to see CBC Sports picking up anything else.

My biggest fear, however, is that they'll ditch Chuck Swirsky and bring back Rod Black to do the PBP.

That ain't gonna happen. Rod Black is a CTV/TSN personality. You won't be seeing him on CBC. Chuck has to be the man. Also, he has TFC season tickets!

As for what CBC did to the DC game, no, that won't happen either. They'd never get away with it. They shouldn't have done it to us either of course but we are the new boys. There is no way in the world they could do that to the Raptors and I doubt they'll try and and I doubt they'll do it to us again either although, sadly, tape delay is probably something that is unavoidable once in a while for TFC, at least this season anyway.

In the stats world they would call this number an outlier....

The game immediately followed an NHL hockey game. Almost half the audience stuck around long enough to record in the game's peak number. I know we all want to believe that 500k (to put it in a U.S. context, 500k Canadians watching a Canadian TV broadcast is the equivalent of about five million Americans watching an American broadcast--it's a big number) Canadians were glued to their sets watching TFC last week, but to do so would be to suspend reality.

Hopefully, some of the 400k or so puckheads that gave the game a quick look will come back again.

As for the Score's numbers...Canadian university football draws similar numbers on the channel (and I'm being generous when I say "similar." Many CIS games draw around 70-80k on the Score and the Vanier Cup drew 300ish).

    Tonight...expect about 150k. Maybe.

HAHAHAHA! Raptors on CBC would be awesome. I am a big raptors fan. :)

But of course those raptor games have to be broadcast during the weekdays or Sundays because of Hockey Night in Canada

Based on my experiance dealing with both networks, ratings on The Score are usually about 4 to 5 times less than what you would get on TSN. So 30K on the score is like 120-150K on TSN. I like that The Score is expanding, but unfortunately their ratings sag right now.

I haven't looked at the numbers, but whats the difference between NHL Hockey on CBC compared to TSN? That should give us a better indication on how Toronto FC is doing on The Score relative to CBC.

The Monday or Tuesday edition of the Globe and Mail usually lists audience numbers for the weekend. EPL games on Sportsnet usually average anywhere between 50K to 250K, depending on the time and who's playing.

I can't remember which game—Chicago or DC—but one of them ranked the second highest sporting event on TV that weekend.

    It was the DC game.

That was in large part to do with overspill from the Ottawa-Buffalo OT game though.

The Globe and Mail today had the numbers at 133,000 for the TFC Columbus game.
