What's the best food from the Brazilian cousine you have ever eaten? Personally I'm very fond of the churrasco gaúcho. Specially when it comes with ovelha, galeto assado, and polenta.
Caldos Tipicos in Brazil are a great change from eating Churrasco every day . But its all good food there !
Being such a vast country, the culinary diversity is wonderful. For me Bahian (sp) is the best and most flavorful. Moqueca de siri mole is choice
You can get Açaí smoothies at "Robek's" and some other smoothie places and probably organic or healthy food stores.
Acarajé, pão de queijo, any salgado with goiaba, feijoada, comida mineira, cocada, caipirinha. Man, there are so many good brazilian foods, but my favorite is my wifes bacalhau.
Some of mine favorites are: >Pão de queijo > Tutu a mineira > Coxinha de galinha > Frango a passarinha > Arroz tropeiro >Pastel
Lucky you to be living in the United States (I live in Toronto, Canada) so I'm not sure if it'll be available here. I tried to ask my Carioca friend about it being here and he said he hasn't heard of any places that sell it. I'll try and look at some organic/healthy food stores, although it will bother me so much, that I have to "look" for it here, whereas in Salvador it could be found selling on almost every street corner.
I am pretty ignorant about Brazilian food, but the other day I went to a churascarria in Tribeca, NYC, and it was pretty amazing. It was expensive though, about $100 per person. What are other, more affordable Brazilian eating options? Thanks
Too bad! Here in the LA County area, most churrascos will go for $25 or so per person at dinner time (it's around $18 or less during lunch hours) However, the exception to that rule is the new Fogo de Chão that just opened up in Beverly Hills. It's reportedly a really famous line of churrascos from Brasil, and at Beverly Hills, it's around $45 a pop. Still... it's considerably cheaper than in NYC i would like to go to Fogo de Chão some day; i've heard good press reviews about it... but i'd much rather go to Brasil itself and eat there
I'm just curious. What's the difference between a Bazillian and an Argentinan churrasco. Here in LA. There is only the Guacho Village in Glendale, but I know of six Argentina Churrascarias. So what I mean, is atleast in LA, Argentina seems to be known as the churrascieros.
Any suggestions for buying a Brazilian cookbook? I prefer more authentic, not gourmet stuff. Most people in the world DO NOT eat gourmet food. Thanks for your time and any information.
My favorites... 1. BRIGADEIRO!!! Who knew that simple condensed milk could become the greatest candy, cake filling/frosting, and ice cream flavor known to man...and actually fill otherwise dull and tasteless chocolate sprinkles with joy and imagination. 2. Paozinho de Queso...those little cheesy puffs that take your breath away.
