Hey everyone, Just wanted to start this thread because I had a double whammy this morning - waking up to first find out that Claudio Reyna, our American Soccer Hero for so many years, lost his 13-year old son last night after a 2-year battle with cancer. And then mere minutes after, I hear about the gunman rampaging at the Dark Knight screening in Colorado -- shooting all those people. Both events really struck me - as a soccer-loving father of a 12-year boy and as a filmmaker who works in an industry that's suppose to provide a fun, exciting, engaging 2-hour sanctuary from the real horrors of life... not a place where people die and lives are destroyed... Which made me want to remind everyone about what's really important. We love this game and this team. But it's just a game and it's suppose to be fun. And I know tempers boil over sometimes and I've seen some really nasty behavior from fans -- mostly of other teams (looking at you fake Goat fans) but also among our own. But you can be a super-fan without being a super-jerk... and I think that applies to anonymous internet boards as well... So I thought today was a good day to remind us to be good humans and support our team and remember that we're all (even Chivas fans) in this together. Peace. -TH
Well said. I think sometimes things do boil over on here, but I hope for most that it's understood our squabbling has been done in a good natured manner. At least I hope. though I am still "mad" at Hachiko for negative repping me when I just jokingly made referenced to the G's losing because of him starting the PIP thread. Anyway, I can definitely unfortunately relate to Claudio and my thoughts to him and all the victims family members and friends from the senseless Aurora shooting early this morning. Peace everyone and remember that sports really is just entertainment and a way to escape from reality for a couple hours a day and in fact is not reality for us fans.

Jack's passing was due to pediatric brain tumor. About 4,000 kids in the US alone are diagnosed with pediatric brain tumors each year. Also, brain tumors are the #1 cause of death for kids who pass from childhood cancer. Unlike what Ms. Crow released in her statement upon learning of her brain tumor, having a brain tumor is a big deal. I wish it isn't and that Ms. Crow is right, but she's not. If anyone uses Twitter and don't mind doing, if you can tweet #BrainTumorThursday every Thursday to help spread more awareness about brain tumors and the devastation that comes with it, it would be appreciated. Here's a bit of background regarding what is #BrainTumorThursday: https://sites.google.com/site/tummorwarrior/home/-braintumorthursday-on-twitter
Thanks, Patrick, what a sad tragedy for the Reyna's. I can't even think about all the victims of violence - - it's just too much.
