Fc Groningen lost three home games at a row, what's wrong do you think the chemic between the coach and the players is gone or is't something else.

    I wish I knew

I am in the US, so I get absolutely no information about FC Groningen. Only very little info about Ajax and occasionally PSV.

I just recently found out that there was a soccer team up there. My ancestors are from the Groningen province, so I support of FC Groningen. Although I am probably the only person on earth who is a fan of a team that I have never seen play a game.

I would love to find out more about the team, all I have seen is the league table and I was dissapointed to see that they have been struggling recently.

Do you know how or if I can watch a match online? Also, do you know any good places online where can I buy team shirts or jerseys?

Also have you ever heard of the last name "Wiersema". That's my last name. I have never met anyone else with that name. There are not that many dutch people in south florida. Actually, I have never met anyone that has any dutch descent whatsoever down here.

Sorry I have so many questions. There are just so many things I have been wanting to ask someone from Groningen.

We should keep up a thread on FC Groningen... for worldwide support!

As a Twente supporter I'm not that concerned about Groningen's fate (with all due respect).

If you want to live with Americans of Dutch decent move to one of the following locations:

Western Michigan (more "vans" than you can shake a stick at)
    Suburban Chicago
    --Westside: mostly Groningers
    --Southside: mostly Frisian
    Paterson, New Jersey
Pella, Iowa (and various other Iowa locations)
    Rochester, New York
    Lynden, Washington
    Southern California
    Suburban Denver
various parts of Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Minnesota

Wiersema or Wiersma are fairly common names. I've run into a few in my day.

Yeah... I knew about dutch people west of chicago. My family is from there. The city where I was born is almost 100% dutch, windmills and all that. Never heard my last name though. Everyone here thinks it's wierd.

I didn't know about the other cities, though.
It's good to hear that you have actually met someone with that name.

    Thanks for the input, Frieslander!

My mother is from the westside of Chicago. We could play "Dutch Bingo." That's when you give someone names of the people you know or are related to in a certain Dutch enclave. Usually there are 7 degrees of separation but in the Dutch-American community it's usually 3 and never more than 4.

pm me if you'd like to play along.

oh yeah, I thought of another "Groninger" in South Florida: Wayne Huizinga, owner of the Miami Dolphins.

Not only that, he's from the west side of Chicago.

Yes but do you have the pennekoeks and the tiny potatoes? Do you dance the souflaki on wooden shoes with tulips in your hands when you're high and trying to legally sell your body?

in Holland, Michigan they have "Tulip Time" every spring. All the streets in town are lined with tulips. There is a parade where the kids do a klompen dance down the street. The kids learn the wooden shoe dance in school. It's especially funny to see the kids who are obviously not of Dutch decent dress up in Dutch costume.

I don't see any weed or prostitution but it does appear that some of the women like to dress in drag.

99% of the home games or selling out that's one of the reasons they build a new one
