I dont care about most of America and Canada, this is Miami we should only care about ourselves, why would i have to name our team based on the rest of this country / north anerican content? Miami is a one and only city. Majority os spanish speaking, why cant that refelect on the teams name?
I think at this point the league probably wouldn't be okay with a hispanic name especially after Chivas. I personally like Luchos idea but I think its safe to assume whatever they choose will be something cliche, which is okay because a nickname can evolve organically from the fans (which I think will happen for ATL)....but I really think the league should be done with Uniteds. I still think Inter is a solid choice.
Im not quit sure what the demographics are in other "Hispanic/Latino" communities like LA, San Diego, San Antonio etc, but, I'm not seeing any of those wanting Spanish Names for any of their teams. I could be wrong though. El Escorpiones de San Antonio instead of SA Scorpions and Club de fútbol de Miami instead of FC Miami, it is then. By the way, I am not against "Spanish" sounding names. I just really hate the idea for the team name to sound to much like an Airport, which International Miami and Miami International does...And well Inter is short for International. On top of that, it sounds to much like a cheap rip off of Inter Milan. I would be all for Bandidos, Caballeros, Tiburones, Toros or Gatos...
Salt Lake City/Utah has more folks who speak Spanish then you would think at first glance. All those returned missionaries, you know...
Spanish Nickname and soccer club in one name. There it can appease the Spanish speaking fans and the "American" style fans all in one.
MFC should get more support from the locals.IMO, People who claim to LOVE SOCCER, and doesn't support SOCCER in their area's, whether its minor league, semi pro, or 2nd tier, really do not love soccer, they may LIKE it, but they only LOVE Having a TOP TIER TEAM. I suppose those people never would support the Canes, since its not Top Tier PRO-Sports..(SARCASM)
In the spirit of the Earthquakes, Miami Hurricanes, or Miami Floods. Maybe Burger King Miami as the chain was started there.
You Like Inter, we all do, but there is someone owns the rights to the name, and trying to bank off of it though...A shame, I rather call this team Atletico Miami, Club Atletico Miami, Club Deportivo Miami or Deportivo Miami, only names I like really. I just dont want Miami Stars FC, Miami Flmaingos SC, Miami "Animal that a Miami native might have never heard of because they are in the everglades" FC, Just original and to the point, like other teams known around the world. i also thought of another one, but it not all that Miamense FC, like Fluminense, chapocoense, "etc.erense"
Is that like how someone owns the rights to "United" because we all think of the same team when the word is referenced? Obviously the club would be called Inter Miami not just Inter. Fairly certain that can work. Who knows what they will call it.
I hope so if that is the case, the guy who did it was doing it with that intention (make money) smart, but not cool. remember the original guy who had Inter Miami kits and everyone was sweating them? uuuff, I hope that guy makes a comeback with them somehow, they are still being thrown around for Miami MLS kits
inter miami doesnt sound as good to me anymore. would be nice to have a spanish twist but im starting to think itll be english based name this being Becks project.
